.....for some reason that icon reminded me a futurama episode where apparently the atheists of the world had developed a sort of deity named the great "Atheismo"........yeah I'm in a bit of a funk so my ideas are kind of on overdrive when it comes to random connections.....

Doesn't that directly contradict the whole purpose?
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

exactly.

Then why?
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

I think that it's a contradiction stating that society cannot freely exist without some sort of universal punishment for your actions therefore any human civilization would eventually fabricate the existence of some higher lifeforms to explain their existence and importance otherwise they wouldn't be able to stand each others company, it may also be for the sake of their sanity, or we're both over analyzing a stupid comedy that was trying to make a joke with a contradiction.

Over analyzing things is bad.
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

....all of these conversations could be easily made into webcomics.....we all pretty much make up punchlines as we go along without realizing it.

I could supply webcomic humor if someone could draw.

I can barely but I'm a horrible procrastinator and when I actually try I draw something eighty three times before I give up and go with whatever I draw next, before going back and correcting stuff before I can put up with it.

I can't do any better.

if no one can draw we can eventually use sprites.....I'd rather not.

I can't draw very well either. Luckily, I have a friend who is fairly good at drawing and wants a job which would provide a living but not take up too much time. He sounds like the person we're looking for, but he is younger than me, which could provide an issue.
P.S. Shouldn't we discuss this in the Comic Thread?

Sorry. Pay is out of the question. We need somebody who draws for the love of drawing...

Any reason, other than a lack of initial funds?
BTW, he does draw for the love of drawing too, but would prefer to make cash out of it (as any would). I have a couple of other friends who love drawing too.

No, it's only because I'm broke. That and I have no clue how to wire money to Australia.
And, well, I like to draw as well, I just couldn't commit to it (and I'm not sure what quality you-all would deem my work...)

Yeah, that's generalizing all right...anyways, enough of that, whether you guys like it or not there IS need for a higher power, whether we confide the task to gods, God, a man/woman, a group of men/women, an object, explanations via physics, whatever. We all do something for something else, even if we are governed by only our impulses; some power IS over us, otherwise no energy would ever be expended, and NOTHING would ever get done, including whatever you think helped to bring our universe into existence.
So, just because an atheist feels offended by the thought of a sentient BEING being over them, doesn't mean that they are governed by NOTHING at all...(although personally, I'd like to think my life had some purpose, and was not just some random experiment of chance or a cosmic accident/mistake) So HA, just went metaphysical on your behind, maintained a neutral standpoint, and defended the possibility/plausibility of a God at the same time...and with there being no religious bias behind it, there's not a thing you can do about it...

it's a contradiction because The "Great Aetheismo" would be the god of Atheists, yet the actual concept of Atheism is that there are no higher beings, therefor it is a contradiction. WHat did you think I was talking about?
