I glanced up from my book and said distractedly, "Then go check it out."
My shadow slipped soundlessly from my shoulder, heading for a nearby patch of darkness. She drifted into it, then spiraled through the abyssal place all shadows met. The shadowy silhouette emerged near where the eavesdropper lurked.
