I find these jokes amusing, but do not understand their source. :|
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

Today is celebrated by Star Wars fans.
May the Fourth = May the Force (be with you) Not sure how long it's been a thing, but at least a couple years.

So would that mean that tomorrow will be Revenge Of The 6th ?

May 5th and May 6 have no meaning in this context, there is no Revenge of the 5th/6th (yet?)

So, my grandmother is in the hospital.
She went in because of high blood pressure, and is now convinced that she is going to die. I don't mean in a panicked sort of way, but in a resigned and deliberative sort. She had a feeling that it was time, even mentioning seeing my deceased grandfather, and wanted all of her descendants to come so she could give them final advice. However.. Once the nurses came around, they checked her and said that other than a elevated blood pressure, she was fine- Since my grandmother is a very healthy lady for her age, they said that it was very unlikely that she was going to die today. It could be that she is depressed, as my grandmother has always been very healthy and active, and a decline in health recently has taken an emotional toll and made her feel old. But my family takes these feels or premonitions very seriously. As my own mother said, "I know that my mom is always right when she feels something in her heart." I'm not really sure what to make of this.

Not sure what to make of her always feeling that her intuition/feelings/premonitions are right, or that her intuition/feelings/premonition are of impending death?

Anything, really.
I'm emotionally drained now. Which is why I'm basically just doing things.

Well, I hope all turns out well.

Appreciate the update.
I can't say I know how you're feeling, but I have an idea. My granddaddy died this past January.

I don't know what to say to that, to be honest.
I'm sorry is overused.

Well, fortunately, I'm quite surprisingly at peace with it. Folks told me all the time, when he first passed, that they were sorry for my loss, but in all actuality, I'm not. Not really.
Call me naive, but I believe all business was finished between us. I knew he loved me, and he knew I loved him. And he was suffering for the most part anyhow; first cancer, then losing a leg (due to what I think is criminal negligence, but we won't get into that), going to live in a nursing home (my dad tried everything he could, but fell sick himself, and could care for him no longer), and then a couple bouts with pneumonia. He deserved rest, after 70-some-odd years of being a really hard worker (he was 80-something), and being a great provider for his family. My faith made it quite easy to see the good in his passing. I've had no problems with grieving, no problems with mourning, or looking back and wishing I'd been nicer, or spent more time with him or any of that. We spent quality time at family gatherings, never exchanging a cross word between us. And when he fell sick, and other family members couldn't (or for some, wouldn't), I helped take care of him, right along my father and my mother. So, really, it's quite alright. It's you I really worry about.

Wow, cancer and the loss of one leg? That must've been terrible! I'm glad for you and your family that he is now finally resting in peace.
It's good to know that you took it so well. When one of my grandfathers died a couple of years ago, the entire family was grieving. And the sad part? He lived about six hours north of where I live, so we didn't see him very often; only on some holidays. We only made a special trip in school time to help with his funeral. It's good to know that your grandmother still lives, Zaleramancer. High-blood pressure is not a good thing to have at all. |

Yeah, like I said, he went through a lot. And most of his issues, in the twilight of his life were brought about by negligence.
And I know Zale isn't the type, but I've sort of resolved within myself to pray for him and his anyhow. Basically, anyone who tells me of their struggles is one more person added to my list of folks to pray for. Not everyone values it, but I find that faith is the best healer for these sort of pains.

Thanks for the birthday wishes on Facebook, Zale.
It was a crappy day, though, and I hate birthday (in Holland). "Birthday party guests" come, you sit in a circle and they all talk. If you have time, to you; otherwise you're busy serving them drinks, cake and snacks. I'd rather have an American birthday party, much more awesome and relaxed. It would have been a better day if the below came true ... I AM THE AVENGERS I got in a fight with the Chitauri, so did the Avengers. So I get all their powers and am the one man Avenger-army |

No, he's just a hilariously homely humanitarian.
