Yes, Phi posted Gilgamesh callng for the start on the previous page. Do you think I need to improve on my narration of battles between two of my characters? If so, then please tell me how.

The only thing I can say really is that you jump from attack to attack a little too fast. It starts to get confusing. It's like:
I attack You attack I attack You attack Try slowing down each attack by adding in more descriptive elements so that readers can become familiar with each attack before it jumps suddenly to the next one. Instead of "He swung the sword at his enemy" you could try something like "He swung the sword in a perfect arc. The blade flashed brightly in the light as it arched over his head and cleaved the very air before it. Like guillotine it plummeted towards his opponent."

Ok, that'll help. Now I just need too think of ways to describe everything.... My mind automatically thinks of flower-like descriptions for Hikaru and Kagehana since their titles are 'the Light's Flower' and 'the Twilight's Flower' respectively. Hopefully that should work though.

Keeping in mind the kind of character Aox is, which of those seems most prudent?

I think I'll provide some information about how Draemar Sorcery (Such as Amalia uses) has improved.
In Sorcery, spells are immaterial and invisible energy patterns composed of colored light, lines and shapes. Though normally they are invisible, spells can be sensed through magic vision, godly insight or by the highly-energized feeling of being in contact with them. When viewed, a spell's color denotes it's function. Offensive combat spells are red, while defensive combat spells are blue. Healing spells are always purple. Outside of combat, blue means a spell that affects other spells, spells that manipulate matter are orange, spells that manipulate energy are yellow. In general, more complex or powerful spells are larger. Recently, advances have been made in the usage of semi-permanent spells, made possible by the invention of the Mana Battery Spell. This complex spell stores energy fed into it by the caster, allowing them to fuel other spells without the caster's attention or action. When a sorcerer casts a spell, they are really using gestures and words to shape a spell in the air. Once completed, they feed mana into the spell to activate it. The more complex or powerful a spell, the more mana required to cast this spell.. however, a sorcerer can reduce the amount of mana required by spending additional time to increase the mana efficiency of the spell. Amalia, for example, usually has several active spells around her. Hovering behind her is the largest of them, a huge circular spell composed of labyrinthine lines and a large blindingly bright blue circle. It's her Mana Battery. Around it are two navy-blue Manaphages, serpentine spells designed to drain mana from any spell that approaches the Battery. Around most of her vial areas and some of her limbs is a green Armor spell. She'll usually have several Climate Control, Light Manipulation and Status spells orbiting her, but she will disable these to conserve energy during the fight. When the fight starts, she'll have one or two unactive red spells waiting to be charged.

Let's see..
In Hazet's land.. The Kingdom of Iron has plenty of warriors. Since they fight mages all the time, they have learned techniques for avoiding and resisting magic. The only real magic users are the Witches, who are understandably hard to find. Their magic uses singing to affect living creatures.. The Magocracy has Draemar Sorcery to spare. They also sell spells, the semi-permanent versions of which can be very worth-while. You can find tutors for many of the more arcane secrets. The Free Cities is a bit of a melting pot, so it's easy to find someone who knows something about anything. In the Five Isles.. There are Hags. They know virtually anything about magic you can ask. Particularly the darker kinds. The Fish-Folk are excellent at teaching swimming. In the Northern Ocean.. The Sea-People/Wave-Folk known things about the properties of various sea plants and fish. They also are good at teaching swimming and diving. Giant Sharks don't die of age (And grow continually during life), so they can teach history very well. Undines.. I suppose they have an instinctive grasp of brawling and unarmed fighting. Assuming you find Sonia, she knows an awful lot about fighting in general.

Not at all, though his methods aren't quite as...formal, as I imagine most other to be.

Marv, you could have Aox hear rumors of the Vault of the Titans before he leaves Spectropolis if you want him to visit there on his quest.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |
