Lords of Creation (Story Thread 2)

Lo-Kag's knee buckles from the blow against his armor and he is forced to roll backwards away from his opponent. The Dwarf was still quick under all that armor, he would have to keep him at a distance from now on. Lo-Kag eventually regains his footing and the ache in his knee eventually fades as the adrenaline of battle takes over. The Goliath goes for another strike, using the full range of his club to strike at the Dwarf, so that only the end of the club would come within range.

Yuri blinks, "Ooooh, I thought you meant what the land was. This building is the University of Elements. It's a school established by the Twin Goddesses who-"

Yuri squeaks in surprise as another girl sneaks up behind her and pokes her from behind. As Yuri turns around and starts complaining to the other girl, someone else behind Aox says, "Forgive Yuri and Haruna for now, those two are always like that."

[Zaleramancer]

"For a given value of okay." The boy said. "Imagine if you felt as if you were dreaming, moving through a strange world with the memories from an old one. Your mind does not question your surroundings, it accepts.. then these blinders are thrown off and centuries of painful memories returns."

"She'll need time to adjust."

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

The Veteran whistles.

"Seems cruel but necessary. I feel bad for her. Still, one place would be as good as any to deal with something like that."

He whistles, and the Watchdogs trot up.

"If y'all want to head for the city, the dogs can lead you there. And if your looking for something, my boss pretty well hears about everything that goes on, so I'm sure he'd be of help to ya'. I'm afraid I can't join you on the trip back, I sort of started something here." He glances at the boquabians and dragonborn sheepishly.

Aox whirled about to face the voice that had spoken, his cloak twisting in a suitably dramatic fashion. He was rather confused by the events playing out around him and the voice had startled him.

[Zaleramancer]

The twins exchanged glances and nodded.

"I suppose we shall depart. Gant, Itself, will you be accompanying us?"

Itself coiled, snakelike and hissed out, "Itself stay. Itself not like flying. Like this cave. Itself find interesting home."

Madame Gant rose without a word and left the cave.

"I would advise you make sure Itself does not devour any of the civilians. It is barbaric, cunning and voracious. Good luck."

The two twins vanished into a pair of spiraling whirlwinds, which surged from the cave, leaving ringing echoes.

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

The Veteran is left with his vandals, the colorful people, and itself. He looks at the snakelike creature for a bit, and an awkward silence passes. He nods two it, and finally asks.

"So, what are you?"

[Zaleramancer]

"A bogey. A fright. A hunter in the night." Itself began to speak in it's hissing voice, bringing it's elongated body up high, reminding one of a rising snake.

Itself smiled.

"Itself will take this place as a den now. You shall remove the frightful ones.. unless you want to give Itself a snack."

Aox turns to find a girl with a crisp white shirt and leather pants on riffling through a book with a cover of leather. She looks at Aox and says, "I'm Tanizawa Miko, a half-Shadow-Scarred, half-Imp. I'm a friend of those two clowns over there, Yuri, whom you've met, and Haruna, a full-blooded Yukionna. The three of us study at the University of Elements. What do you want to know about it?"

As Miko talks, Yuri and Haruna start fighting with magic and other students start putting up barriers to block any excessive magic.

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

"Right!" he say, getting the full picture. "Ladies, lets move this outside." he says, clapping his hands. The Vandals throw the still breathing prisoners over their shoulders and begin to file out of the cave. The Veteran takes this time to usher the Boquabians outside as well, and he waves them off as the exit the cave. Once everyone is gone, he turns back to itself.

'Don't touch anything, this is a crime scene. And don't go skippin town, I might have questions for you." He turns and sweeps out of the cave into the sunlight. He looks at the new perimeter that had been established around the prisoners. He also see's the boquabians over by the tree line, flanked by the three remaining watchdogs. He nods, and moves up to them.

"Alright, who's in charge?" he asks them, in his most authoritative voice.

Aox pauses for a moment, unsure about how to answer. The fact was, he didn't know what he wanted to know. All he was looking for was training. Finally he spoke.

"Well, I'm not sure exactly. I've traveled to these lands in search of a teacher or mentor that could.....assist me in getting stronger."

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

Miko nods, "I see. Well, in that case, if you want to become stronger, then this University is a good place to start. If you are a hero or able to pass the lower classes of magic, then you can learn from the gods themselves. Which god though is of course based on what type of magic you want to excel in. Also, if you want to learn swordsmanship, the Tengu are the best ones to go to. They're the ones who originally taught Kagehana-sama and have groups at the University."

Aox straightened up at the mention of Kagehana's name. Ever since his match with her he'd had mixed feelings towards her. Maybe this place was what he was looking for after all.

"So, how does one go about enrolling here?"

[Tsubasa & Wen Tien]

Miko closes her book with a snap, "Well, then. If you wish to enroll, follow me after I take care of those two clowns."

In Miko's hands form a bow of shadows and a single arrow which she then focuses concentrated mana upon its point before firing it at the ground between Yuri and Haruna. The second it hits, the shadow arrow explodes knocking Yuri and Haruna into the walls and blasting debris in every direction that is stopped by all the barriers put up. A pair of Tanuki come out and start healing Yuri and Haruna as Miko starts walking down the hall, "If you would come this way Aox-san, then I will help you to register."

"Lead on Miss Miko." Aox calls out as he bows in thanks.

Miko leads Aox to a room with several papers stacked to the ceiling. She walks around one stack and looks around before pulling out a single paper and a quill pen from her pocket, dipping it into an inkwell on a nearby table, "Ok, let's fill out this application. Name: Aox. Status: ..."

Miko looks up, with a frown on her face, "Are you an ordinary mortal or a hero, Aox-san? And do you have a family name?"

[Celadon's Penultimate]

Despite his internal fear of what was to come, the blue-skinned investigator Draias remained stone-faced. He was, after all, still the leader of what Boquabians remained. If he faltered, his mind mused, then surely the others were sure to give up hope as well.

The Fair Goddess had been good enough to them thus far; he did not see her wavering. Surely, even those slain had a place at her side.

As he lead his surviving four fellow Boquabians to exit the cave, he thought cautiously, afraid event hat his thoughts might anger this new being who commandeered them. He finally built up the nerve, and spoke.

"What are your plans for us?"

Fandas, Linessa, Gosso and Rox fell silent and stopped dead in their tracks behind him, their eyes wide with apprehension.

[Gentleman Vaultboy]

"Look, I'm not here to hurt ya'. I just need to have a few questions answered. That's all. Now, what's your name, what went down in that cave, and what is your experience with these dragonborn?"

Then, he reached into his cloak and pulled out a pencil and a writing pad.

Magnas strolls down to the docks on her way to the University of Elements. A little detour couldn't hurt. She heads into the GHQ of the docks and requests a manifest of all visitors to look through at her leisure.

Suna walks into the shop of glass trinkets and looks around for a few minutes before taking notice of a sword made out of glass. The workmanship on the blade was incredible and she asked the shopkeeper who had made it and where they lived. Upon recieving the answer from the shopkeeper, she thanks them, pays for the sword and leaves to return the sword to her office at the University of Elements before paying a visit to the craftsman who made the glass sword.

[Celadon's Penultimate]

Draias looked at the figure curiously. Was this guy serious? They had just been slaughtered and terrified and holed up in the crossfire of two races far more powerful than they...imposed upon preternaturally by gods, left to fear and tremble and question how many more pitiful minutes or seconds of their lives remained...and this guy wanted to talk.

The investigator pondered what god had slipped Uburra-Namall's notice to play such a hideous trick on him.

Then, from his hesitance, he began to compose himself; Get it together, man. Your intellect is all for naught if you haven't got the courage to use it; your knowledge a useless failure, your discoveries worth less than the dirt.

At last, with a strange and trembling breath...

"I am Draias..." He began. And his tale unwound slowly, meticulously, like a sharp and unpleasant coil of thorns.
