I read it, but it just now clicked when I remembered that the domains of gods slowly wain after they die. and we've killed the god of heroes and adventure.....

You didn't read it very closely then. Gilgamesh took care of his domains so they would not fade.

I think he just softened the blow somewhat. Even if you pile them on to another god, I think the weight of trying to support 5 at once is going to... wonkyfy things.

The thing about my Pantheon is that all the other Spirits are just representations of Gilgamesh's own domains. So there are are 2 or more Spirits still living for each domain. Kingdoms was the only exception to this so that is why he tried to make Nova take over that one for him.

Still though, there is not a single Spirit from Gilgamesh's Pantheon left on the planet. So the domains may not be dieing off, but they should definately be weakened.
