Well it could either be a runoff from a something I do messing with the realm of spirit and dream.
I like Zale's explanation better. It makes more sense.

Slow drift from isolation.

If few people go to an area, then the slow changes in how people speak or the nuances they use will change independently of the rest of the world.

Since most people don't immigrate to your land (Due to issues with gods), the general language there would slowly drift from everyone else. Eventually, it'd be a practically different language.

Like how Latin became French and Spanish.

Well, there's always the Biblical model. People coming together to reach some goal that goes against the model of what is natural.

Or the antithesis of that: The people are so morally, ethically and ideologically split that basically their languages are divided in a divine version of "sending everybody to their own corners".
“…Judge not what a man has done, but judge what he could have done if he was a different bloke altogether. For art thou a leper? And a leper can changeth his spots…”   --Rudy Wade, Misfits (Series 4, Episode 8)

Alright, I'm probably going to eventually have occasional Japanese and Chinese words added into their speech then. Plus, it'll give me the opportunity to input a game that is very dangerous and has no winners but can be very fun.... Oh, and it utilizes a fan.

Cool.

It doesn't really matter when they're talking amongst people who know the language, but to people who don't it would seem very accented and hard to understand.

Like the person from the roleplay. She basically speaks the same language, just with a few variations. If she was talking to someone who spoke her dialect, then I'd drop the accent between them.

I asked how it made more sense, not how it was to happen.

It makes more sense because it's more realistic and logical.

Because it's something that actually happens to a certain degree.

See the difference between British English and American English.

Or cockney and mid west. I get it, but shouldn't there be a mythical reason?

It's not ridiculous to use a reasonable explanation in a story...in fact, its better.

Why does there need to be a magical reason for everything?

This way, it'll happen slowly and organically.

Fail to see how dreams affect life-long languages, I do.
