"Well, I think that is about as much as I'm going to learn at the moment without making myself broke" Willow says as he stuffs the strange new creation into his pack. "Time to see if I can actually make something useful."

Willow sets his quarterstaff up on the main pad and then distributes the shredded scraps of metal between the circle and rune pads, placing the majority of the scraps on the rune pad. He then presses the button.

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Dan makes a show of thinking about it, even counting on his fingers.

"Hmm, that'll ring you up about 12 coins, Let me get it all for you..."

Dan practically dives into the collection of knickknacks and junk and pulls out a tattered old pack, a work leather scabbard, a pole, a length of knotted rope, a rusted hook, and a collection of bottles.

"Anything else I can help you with?" Dan asks through a large cheesy smile.

"Those greaves are 9 coins, I can affix some metal to the gloves and sell them to ya for 7 coins. Course it'll take some time to craft." the smith answers.

"Oh well, I'll think of something." He says, assuaging the shopkeeper and handing over 13 coins. "That should be enough, right? I'll give you everything I have left if you have a proper canteen in here."

/whispers to Willow/ "How much gold do we have left?"

/outloud to smith/  "The cestus interests me, my good man.  How long would it take to craft them?"

Willow picks up his new staff and gives it a couple experimental swings to examine its sturdiness and weight. Giving it a twirl, he rotates over to Praosk and whispers "We have enough, but it would leave little for the others to use."

While waiting to see Praosks decisions, he turns to the shop keeper and pulls out one of the odd purple stones he had collected. "Can you tell me anything you might know about this substance?"

"Just the cestus for now,  then.  I'd like to take a turn at that contraption,  if you don't mind?"

/Praosk looks around for any small, hand-sized scraps if metal/

(After locating a few) "Could you include these useless scraps in the transaction, my good man?"

Willow causally slides 7 coins over to Praosk for his payment.

Dan scrambles back into the forest of junk and begins digging through a dozen or so old canteens. He inspects each one quickly discarding the ones that have holes or other imperfections until he pulls a beaten up old tin canteen that was still in decent shape and slides it to Star.

"There you go!"

"Praosk, I believe my needs here are taken care of. We can return as soon as you finish."

"Thank you!" Star says, sapping all the money he has on the counter and gathering up all his things. He slides Luck the Sword into it's new scabbard and attaches it to his belt, the weight comforting next to the hatchet. He throws everything else into the backpack for now, carrying the pole at his side, and nods to the Dan before moseying out the door and back toward the entrance to the village.

If nothing happened, he was going to make his way back to the room with the dead Chlorofiend and peek inside.

/Praosk sets the 7 coins on the counter, takes the cestus and similar sized chunks of metal and begins his experiment.  Firstly, he puts one glove on the big pad and a chunk of metal on the pad with the squiggly symbol.  He then presses the button/

(awaiting results before doing the next one)

The room now reeks of death. The Cholorfiend is right where they left it...bowels and all. The only things different about the corpse were the few white flowers that had sprouted from the skin and a large chuck of flesh that was missing from the tail. Small marks around the missing bit indicated something had been gnawing on it.

Scrap Glove

It is somewhat flexible despite appearing to be made of solid metal.

"It looks like our business is almost done here" Willow says to Praosk.

To the blacksmith, Willow says "Is there any way we could track down more of these altars in the future? Or is there a way to take their magic with us?"
