their being ridden by little demonic creatures that control them, and they have prety much the same biology as the gremlins. They can't enter the forest though.

alright, maybe I'll use one of the other nightmares that I've had as a base next time for a more powerful/ridiculous/terrifying arena.

CARLA decides to dig trenches.

In this scenario, I wouldn't go into the forest because knowing you the forest itself would be an enemy ie walking trees etc.
Since the earth around there didn't attack us(at least not yet).

They dig then use a camouflage sheet to hide themselves from aerial view.

The entire ground is covered in a forest foliage gowing down to the floor forming a ant hill like maze, and you start several hundred feet in the air on a floating staircase composed of steps with about a fity foot area.
