I said it before. She comes from a long line of necromancers, exorcists, spirit mediums and assassins. Death is a big part of her life, and she realizes that spirits are what made living people living, therefore they should be treated with the utmost respect.

Good ones helped, neutral ones dealt with according to their actions, and evil ones dealt with. And undead dealt with according to their actions.

Also it's sort of your fault, you reminded me of the entire Homunculi aspect when you sated that souls are what make people people. And a homunculi is a person that most likely does not have a soul and was constructed Via alchemist, which do in fact exist in this RP. It's entirely plausable and would lead to some interesting experiences, even though they are not a major part of the story.
