An example eh....then give me a second...

I'm not sure if one exists but I was thinking more along the lines of a series of several subcalasses each one with their own abilities and atttributes. Honestly it wouldn't be as dificult as gaming sites because we have a number of players at our disposal. The subclasses themselves would be mostly unique to each character bu, would be taught by freelancers, and guilds. such as the mages guild would be a large conglamoration of Sorcerors, illusionists, magicians, elementals, Necromancers. Etc. And the Warriors guild would handle Barbarians, Paladins, Knights, and Perhaps monks, and so on.  Each character who wished for it would have a brief stint in each guild, during which they would undergo quests, and learn from masters, until the period when they left out into the world. Otherwise they either have to be self taught through experimentation, or have the luck to find a temporary mentor on their own. This way, each character's powers would be seperate but still in the control range. If needed there could also be an Adventurer's/mercenaries guild which would handle the quests of pretty much every situation in the land/world, as well as keep a listing of the guild's quests/challenges/etc. This way, if wanted several characters could multi class at the risk of creating to much of a challenge for their character, which may lead to a bit of a nervous breakdown, or them being cast out from the guild.

@Jester:If you had no response, then why did you respond?

Anywho, @Zale, how do we come up with the stat sheet? Do you have a working template in mind? Or will you be improvising? Or do you wanna adapt the Evolutionist's Stone RP character template to this one (making it more fantasy appropriate)?

That is very close to what I am suggesting.

Except the generic class would simply be a guild with different subclasses (Specifications)

Annnnnyway.

Everyone. Levels go from one to twenty.

I'm going to request that you come up with some skills/abilities/spells and space them out through twenty levels for the class you wish to play as.

I will then look over it and we can all discuss if it needs to be modified.

Ok I have no clue where this is going. Everyone seems to have a different idea about how we are going to go about this.

List levels one through twenty, and what powers are gained at each level.

Stats.. will be complicated.

We need one to for things and things..

I'm just going to use the DnD character stats. It's easier that way.

BUT!

They won't be numerical. Instead, you give them a value that ranges from Low<Medium<High. Two high, two medium and two low.

The stats are..

Strength (Str) Strength measures your character’s muscle and physical power.
Dexterity (Dex) Dexterity measures hand-eye coordination, agility, reflexes, and balance.
Constitution (Con) Constitution represents your character’s health and stamina.
Intelligence (Int) Intelligence determines how well your character learns and reasons.
Wisdom (Wis) Wisdom describes a character’s willpower, common sense, perception, and intuition.
Charisma (Cha) Charisma measures a character’s force of personality, persuasiveness, personal magnetism, ability to lead, and physical attractiveness.

We will use the value to determine things ingame.

For example, a barbarian with great strength (High) hits a wall furiously. Cue new hole in it.

But.. An illusionist with low strength would hit it and get nothing but a bruised hand.

IT SHALL BE MAGNIFICIENT. THis thread will be the makings of a world of mischeif, magic, order, and chaos all intertwining together as one to create the ultimate adventure of free will. Oh yess with some of the greatest, and slightly insane minds on the internet, we shall create GOLD. It will be a free willed RPG where each of us can submit quests to participate in...I'll stop now before this becomes a rant.

For now, Just pick what class you want.

Go from one (Lowest level) to twenty (Highest level)

Add new abilities each level that both fit, and grow more potent the higher you go.

Yeah, that sounds good. Better than numbers. For this sort of thing, math isn't really the best option.

Dex: High, extremely good archer
Wis: High, amazing perception
Int: Mid, pretty smart
Str: Low, not that strong
Con: Mid, could run a good distance, but would have to take a break every once in a while
Cha: Low, not very persuasive
You aren't symmetrical. You. Aren't. Symmetrical.
YOU! AREN'T! SYMMETRICAL!?!?!?!?!?!

Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Look at the bolded part.

Only two high, then two medium and then two low.

Now, Jester you want some examples?

Take medium as pretty much average.

Example!

Bob, Warlock destroyer of worlds.

Strength (Str) Low
Bob is much weaker than your average person. Seventy year old people have more muscle power than him.

Dexterity (Dex) Mid
Bob is fairly normal when it comes to balance and reflexes. He won't be dodging arrows, but he also won't trip over his own feet.

Constitution (Con) Low
Bob couldn't run more than three yards without starting to falter. A mile long run would have killed him half way through.

Intelligence (Int) High
Bob is exceptionally intelligent. He is skilled at making complicated plans and understanding obscure magical effects.

Wisdom (Wis)  High
Bob could be considered wise. He has immense will power and finds the intuitive understanding of things to be simple.

Charisma (Cha) Mid.
Bob is not much more persuasive or attractive than your average person. No one would jump off a cliff for him, but no one would flee the sight of him either.
