Well, in all honesty, I'm not sure exactly how an MMO would go, since I don't exactly study up on MMO terms.

We're supposed to be guarding this caravan when the local goblin tribe decide to raid it. Defend the travelers and goods.

A new cult has sprung up. A goblin high priest of said cult is massing an army of his kin in the mountains with the intent of sacking the town we're staying in and destroying a sacred Item on display in the local church in order to show his dedication to his new god.

Goblins have been launching raids on a new settlement in the frontier. We're hired by a gnome aristocrat to put a stop to it. While doing the job we find evidence that the goblins were being bankrolled by the gnome, with the intent of lowering the value of the land and buying it up cheaply. He sent us to die at the hands of his co-conspirators to make it look like he was working to solve the problem and lay the groundwork for a mayoral bid, and fully intended to stab his goblin allies in the back from the very start once he owned most of the town.

So, use of an avatar, that is known in-game as an avatar?

Well.. IF we went with the MMO thingy... then the start of it would be each person going through character creation.

The whole thing would be marked by an understanding that you're a person playing a game- your character would be the person playing- and the avatar would be little more them in the game. Perhaps a bit different, since people like to pretend they're something different..

Like a wimpy guy playing KILLMAN CRUSH-MASTER, HALF-DEMON BARBARIAN!
