Hmm maybe a gravity spell that lets you change gravity in a certain direction, then you can do other directions as you get stronger. Like at first can only control gravity going down then get Up, left, right, etc.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |

Similar problem, although if I could master it, I could use my digital drawing board.
However, I have two friends I am in constant contact with who can draw. One can draw her imagination (as well as write good stories) and the other can draw almost anything from memory; she can draw amazing pictures of pokemon.

well, why not ask if they'd be interested? I'd love to shoot some ideas around, and if they joined the site, all the better...

Hm...well, in that case, my intellect has no stake here til I read it, which (due to my horrendous schedule) will not be happening any time soon.

None of the above. I'm writing a story for the fun of it. It's not going to be long enough to be a book, and it's not really inspired by an existing book or story. I came up with this magic system largely on my own.

Can't help with drawing but I CAN help with storyline if you want my opinions and ideas. I'm horrible at drawing people of any kind.

Oh, okay, because it was kinda confusing before. So, you're making up the story on your own, but some of the stuff is inspired by (but not based on) the book you mentioned?

Not many people have that much drawing expertise on this site, and the only people I know of with any artistic computer software prowess are Zale and Vespert (their art threads are the only reason I know this...)

Huh wha?
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

What, it's true. I has yet to gain any computer artistry animation prowess, and I think I can safely assume the same of the others.

Ehhh...
So, what are the character's personalities?

Okay, let's try this again. There is no book. It is a story that I am working on, but it is not based on any book that has been published. If there is a book with this magic system, I have never heard of it before. I came up with that magic system on my own, because I'm just that much of a fantasy nerd. As for what their personalities are like, I'm trying to get some ideas for spells before I start making characters. I do have this much though: the main character hates himself and is willing to endanger his own life for someone else. |

Then maybe he should gain some superhuman abilities based on thrusting himself into situations that would otherwise prove harmful or even lethal.
Ex: jumps in front of a bullet, becomes invulnerable

that's what was so confusing...I assumed that, because you knew of a book by that name, he was referring to that book. Smh...

Oh, okay, I see the confusion now. No, I submitted this magic system to the site under the name Awakened Mage. It's on the site under that name. I'm sorry, I thought I had communicated that. I really need to work on stuff like that.
I like the idea of having spells activated in certain situations, but I'd still like a bit more. I feel like I'm missing something that would be really good. |
The problem here is, you're asking us to make spells based on personalities before you know what personalities you want the spells to be based on. That's hard for us to come up with the sort of things you might be looking for, and even if we just rattled off a hundred different spells at random, that still wouldn't work. Seriously, grow some creativity if you want to write a book. Make the characters first, and then make your own spells based on what the characters are like. Trying to shoehorn in the rubbish that we spew without any knowledge of what you want to write will not work.
I came to them out of mists and rain;
I came to them in dreams at midnight; I came to them in a flock of ravens that filled the northern sky at dawn... |
