(Phasma is human, and Casper is her talking cat familiar)
Phasma is unperturbed by the gravelly nature of the voice; she has heard worse in her days working with spirits of the dead. She simply sips a cup of green tea, and responds pleasantly. "You're right, I admit. I'm not from here. My home is far from these parts, in fact; back eastward. But my business requires that I travel far and often. And to be honest, I don't think my work will ever be done. By the way, my name is Phasma. Phasma Geist. This handsome fellow is my cat, Casper." She stuck out a demure hand for a shake, "And you are?"

Pion considers returning the gesture, and would have save for the risk of hurting her with his own large hands.
"My names Pion, Pion "Flaskbone" of the Cauldron Clan. I come from further to the south."

Phasma was delighted, despite being left hanging as far as the handshake was concerned.
"Well, I must say it's rather nice to make your acquaintance, Mr. Flaskbone." Comes a returned salutation; but it isn't from the lovely, black-haired Phasma. Obviously male, Mr. Flaskbone will find that the voice comes from Phasma's cat, Casper.

Pion's eyes travel as they search for the origin of the voice, finally registering the source as coming from the woman's pet.
"And what might you be?" he asks "A druid in disguise?"

Casper seems entertained by the thought, and as he responds, he regally strokes his whiskers, "Why, yes. Yes, I am, in fact. Good eye, Mr. Flaskbone! Yes, I'm a tall, handsome druid, with long flowing hair, big muscles, and a beard...Isn't that right, Phasma?"
The spirit medium chuckles at Casper, and sips from her cup, "He's a cat, trust me. I should know; I got him as a kitten. Specially raised from a breed descended from witches' familiars. And from birth, he's been my familiar. You see, the thing is, I'm a spirit medium. And in the travels of my bloodline, we found that having a furry animal companion can be most beneficial. Adds years to both our lives, as my grandmother would say. And you? What do you do, Mr. Flaskbone?"

"Ah....."Spiritkin" and "Mantongue"." Pion exclaims. It was a custom for Goliaths to give honorific titles in place of a beings true name.
"I deal with potions" Pion explains to the two "I've set out to prove myself, and by doing so I'll earn an honorary position within my clan."

"That sounds quite noble." Phasma remarks, impressed.
Casper agreed, and then looked to Phasma, "But, Phasma, I would think...you and I are out searching for similar prestige, no?" "You think so, Casper?" "Well, certainly." Casper nods, as the barmaid places another bowl of cream in front of him, "What else does a spirit medium seek out to do, other than prove that his work isn't a sham? Yes, indeed, I'd say we and Mr. Flaskbone probably have quite a bit in common." Phasma thought a second, and then smiled, "Hm. I suppose you're right." "I make it my business to be." came the teasing response, and the two shared a laugh.

"That is quite honorable of you to offer" Pion replies "But I'm looking for jobs that would be too dangerous for one such as yourself. Perhaps we will cross paths again if I ever need the type of services you could offer."

Phasma's face falls from pleasantries to a more serious tone, her smile only vague now, and Casper quickly senses it, feeling the sudden compulsion to refrain from comment.
"Oh, really now? Too dangerous?" Her face remaining demure, Phasma's voice is somewhat accusatory, or maybe challenging, "You think so? Pray tell, Mr. Flaskbone, can a potion jump into your body, using you like a helpless human puppet, making you float in midair and crawl up walls, and speaking through you in languages you never acquired by any natural means? Or, perhaps, does a potion lurk about invisibly, tossing things around like an angry giant infant, smashing into any being that has the misfortune of getting in its way? Or even, does a potion pester you constantly to tend to its needs, to solve business it left unsolved in life, in order for it to pass peacefully into the afterlife? Will you ever have to deal with anything of that sort in your line of work? Or...do I burden you with the simplicity of my profession?" The spirit medium crosses her arms, coyly intent on what answer the Goliath will muster.

Scourge wanders into a nearby inn hoping to find something of interest, hears a snippet of the conversation, and then instantaneously turns around to leave.
"No you don't, we're staying in here." the package glowed red, "I'm not letting you make us sleep in the streets again, especially when you won't' let me eat the vagrants." "Crud" Scourge grabs a nearby chair and sits down tryign to remain nonchalant and unnoticable. |

Pion muses for a moment in his memories, remember the things he had seen the heads of his clan do with a simple "potion."
"I suppose they don't do that" he finally replies "I also suppose that you could not face any of what you just mentioned in your current state. Do not be hasty to rush yourself into danger, that is what the big men with shields are for."

Logan rubbed the sleep from his eyes and blinked. He looked around vacantly as he pondered the strange dream he'd had. He would be sure to remember it, his mother had pounded into him the importance of listening to your dreams. They often had important things to say.
With a loud yawn Logan stood up. It briefly occurred to him that this was not where he had fallen asleep, but he quickly dismissed it as a mistake. Slowly he trudged off too the closest building which happened to be the inn. He pushed open the doors in what he imagined was a heroic fashion. The effect of which was lost as he stubbed his toe on a protruding jut in the floor and tripped. He fell forward through the open doors and landed on his face with a very loud thud. "Just great, " he mumbled to the floor.

'Men...' Phasma thinks amusedly, before speaking aloud, "Yes, well, I never meant to make it sound as if we were in some sort of competition or something. My only point is...I'm tougher than I look. And hopefully, with my travels, my experience will bring me powerful allies. Both in the natural realm, and the supernatural."

Pion begins to think of a reply but is distracted by another traveler entering the inn.
"It seems quite a few travelers have come to this town" he says to Phasma "I've barely met a local yet three outsiders find their way into the same inn as me." He turns to one of the outsiders he had been talking about, one keeping quietly to himself in the back of the inn "What brings you to this town of all places?"

Logan lifted himself up and glanced quickly about the room. It seemed nobody had seen him fall. In fact, nobody had seemed to notice him at all. That was fine with him, he'd rather not make a bad impression in this town. Logan fixed Wayward Souls place on his back and moved quietly and quickly to the nearest table. He slid into a seat and stared at the table.
"This....this is not going as well as I'd planned."

Scourge looks to the side pretending to not have noticed, when that fails he looks up putting on a suprised face accompanied by a nervous smile, "Oh nothing of interest, just passing through and trying not to starve to death, same as everyone else."

Logan hefted his Blade onto the table. It hummed quietly beneath its cloth and leather bindings. Logan smiled at it and spoke softly to it.
"Ah, old friend, at least you are here with me. This town will be a new beginning for both of us."

Phasma is pleasant.
"Well, I'm having tea. Should I order another round? Maybe for that other gentleman, too, over there. Hello! You there, with the pointed ears?" She returns her attentions to the first newcomer, "By the way, my name is Phasma. Phasma Geist."

Scourge's smile becomes increasingly more nervous, "No, no, it's alright, I was about to depart anyway."
"No we aren't," Telepathic link "we've been on the road for weeks, I can't remember the last time we had a chance to sit down without a bird landing on me!" "On second thought why pass down hospitality," Twitch, 'I'd be honored to accept your generosity." |
