You step out of cover and let out a scream, an undefined, inarticulate, onomatopoeia, but nevertheless the perfect onomatopoeia for catching someone off guard. He turns to face you. He can't help himself, your cry tapped into the deepest, most lizard like part of his brain and flipped a very ancient switch.

But that does not mean hes stupid. As Armand rushes forward he raises both of his arms, one pointed at you, the other at Armand, and begins spraying fire. Armand is forced to break off his attack and duck out of the way. You meanwhile dive forward, landing safely into the pool of water as fire engulfs the air above you.

But now both of his hands are tied up, and Amanda begins to swing her Yo-yo in wide arcs. It whistle through the air at breakneck speeds, snagging the wind on each rotation as if it were spiders web. The result look, strangely, like cotton candy. But then she lets it go, and it moves forward, a executioners axe in everything but name. There is a great, terrible noise as the room goes topsy-turvy.

You are next to Armand. The wind lifted you, and the water, out of the bowl and threw you at him in a tidal wave.The ceiling is crumbling and the left wall are crumbling, probably because of the huge cut in them.

And there stands Malcolm, no longer gushing fire, staring at nothing. He seems okay, until his coat falls off around him, cut cleanly in two. Then he begins to burn, along a line perfectly bisecting his body. The ball, now no longer burning, falls into the fountain with a soft *PLOP*

Then he falls apart, and as he falls the two halves burn, no, not so much burn but become fire themselves. With a final sizzle, there is nothing left of him, save for a softly glowing orb where he once stood.

Armand helps you to your feet as Amanda walks over to the fallen coat and the orb. She picks it up, and the orb begins to glow soft baby blue. She begins to speak to no one.

"That's what happens, Malcolm. You want to know the benefits of fine control? Well there it $#@$ing IS!" She kicks the severed coat and walks over to you and, well, just Armand, not you. She presents the orb to him.

"You want this? Because if not, I'm using it."

"Why not give it to him."

"Why waste it?"

"No you can't have it! Look, I'm sorry, but you're only going to defect and I don't want you any stronger when you do. In fact, we should pop for your orb and be done with it!"

"SO WAS HE!" She yells, pointing at where Malcolm used to be.

Suddenly though, and you are getting more used to this feeling, perfect word start to form on your lips. This time, you don't even try to hold them, you let them flow.

"Marion trusts me."

Her mouth widens a little, her eyes go wide. She looks away, then back, then away again. Finally, she hands the orb to you.

"There, take the damn thing. But you and me, we talk later." Then she walks away,kneels down by the fountain and begins splashing water on her face.

Armand quickly puts his hand on your shoulder, and says in a whisper, "Hey man, don't hold that against her, alright? Shes always been kind of high strung.and between everything that's happened, well, it hasn't helped."

"What has been happening? What is this?" You hold up the orb.

"You really are new." he says, looking you over. "That's a prize orb, it gives EXP and items to the one who opens it. That's your fist one, so it should probly have your weapon in it. Go on, crack that bad boy."

You squeeze as hard as you can and hear a slight *CKLEC* as the orb cracks. A flash of blue light appears, and begins to form a shape.

The Light condenses, shaping itself into a large blue book, something that could be accurately described as a tome.

Well, that wasn't surprising.

What is surprising is when you open it up, it contains no words. Armand peers over your shoulder.

"Well that's strange. But don't be upset, usually this stuff has some kind of freaky power."

But the word "Power" has hardly left his lips when it suddenly dies in the air. Looking down, you see a word appear in the book.

Power: Overwhelming force is at your command. Energizes those around you, and have them fight all the harder. One Charge.

Armand claps you on the back. "There, see? Freaky powers. What did you say you were, again?"

"Scholar of Words?"

"Really? Well, allow me to formally welcome you to blue team. I'm the Rogue of Void, Amanda over there its the Witch of Wind."

"Yo."

(Arthur has learned a new WORD. WORDS can be used on yourself or you allies. Level up you Tome to allow it to learn and store more WORDS. Search books and people to acquire new WORDS.")
