Hermes Core wouldn't exactly work since it is a specific thing from the Greek Mythos, you could have a Core of one of his domains but not of specifically him.

Overdrive is a special technique that lets you go over your normal power limit for the duration of the technique.

Its usually a specific move that is a specialized theme.

I think I would allow solid mirages pretty early if that is the direction you want to take it in.

You would have to channel the Overdrive, but you could do other things while channeling the Overdrive as long as nothing breaks your connection.

There would also be some kind of indication on your character and whoever you are using it on.

What about me? Maybe She draws them into a typical jrpg battle, where they're bound up in turns and limitations. Though, Syo isn't very strong herself, so that might actually be a disadvantage.

You have a lot of options really since you can make the Overdrive have components of game mechanics.

Such as Leveling, Stats, Status Effects, Etc.
