Devil? WHERE? SMITE EVIL! TURN UNDEAD!

Sometimes.

When the undead are demon possessed corpses, anyway.

Demons and Devils are different. CE and LE.

Never get along. Blood war and everything.

I have cold iron and silver, so I'm good.

No, I don't know of any faith that counts them as being undead.

They're incorporeal (in most faiths), and often said to be incapable of dying in the first place, thus having no need to raise from the dead.

This applies to most faiths I've studied; Japanese, Greek, Roman, Chinese, etc...

Um, if there was an actual devil, I doubt he'd actually be that devil's advocate. I'm pretty sure that was just an expression.

I thought smiting always works. Even on the good guys.

Because there's an amount of evil in everyone.

I was thinking of the mortal equivalent of a robot programmed to kill and destroy everything. Not evil, just neutral.

If it's unable to make it's own choices, and can only robotically obey orders, then it's a tool. Which wouldn't be evil..

After all, if someone shoots you, that doesn't make the gun evil.

Evil doesn't apply to devices. Or to animals. Only creatures with sentience. That's like if a lady used a butcher knife to work with food in the kitchen, and then the same butcher knife was later used by some madman to brutalize a bunch of college kids. The knife itself is just a vehicle for the motives of whoever is currently making use of it.

Well, that's your opinion. I think an object can be evil...like any kind of torture device.

Something can be made for evil purposes, but the object/item/structure in itself could be used for anything, good or evil.

And I accept that that is your opinion, but it is not mine. I believe if an object has an evil purpose, then it is evil.
