Mik Hael: The backyard of the non-burnt house looks very much like the one you are in now, with th addition of a swingset. A pair of dogs are standing next to it, near a hole in the far fence: a ratty looking retriever, and a beagle that's chewing on something black. Suddenly, a black muzzle is visible through the far hole, and you think you hear a soft growl. The other two dogs sit bolt upright, and the beagle carries the black thing as they slip out through the hole. </font›

Ben cautiously picked up the final weapon and looked at it as if it might bite him.

Rorschev blinks twice after seeing the spectacle and makes a not of the sentient pack of dogs roaming the suburbs, before turning to grab the flash staff, picking up and covering the hole with the wooden circle before staring at the flashlight. "...Leon, how long does your ability affect items that leave your person?"

Ben gripped the knife awkwardly, the blade facing outwards as he clutched it to his chest. He looked around nervously at the empty woods.
"S-Shouldn't we move? I don't like it here."

"We should." Tyler attempted to look a bit heroic, swinging the sword slow about his person as though to practice with it, despite internally feeling how Ben seemed externally, "Whatever we're trying to accomplish, we definitely won't get done out here."

Vault: I think you might have not noticed my last post Vault. I went and peaked over at the other house
Nix hobbles back over to the group to share with them what knowledge he had gained from his limited scouting. Along the way, he stoops down to pick up one of the smaller knifes. Hopefully small enough so that he could phase it through things in addition to his arms.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |
What Nix saw through the other fence, which he shares with the rest of you, was the burnt-out husk of the house to your right. A powerful fire looks like it just carved out the middle chunk of the place, such that he could see the street and houses beyond it, albeit not in great detail. Two charred planks of wood lay in the weeds where the back door should be. The planks are blue and could have been the door at one point, but it looks like it was burned in half up the middle.
Other than that, the only thing in the backyard is a small homemade doghouse. The nameplate on it reads, in cheerful yellow letters, "Benny."

"....So that is everything I could see of our neighboring house. It seems like a dead end with those strange burn marks but at least we know where at least one of the stray dogs came from."
Nix sits back down to nurse the wound in his leg some more until the rest of the group was ready to move. He sets his chosen blade in the grass next to him seeing as he would not have any place to carry it but his hands even if his pockets were not full of flashlights. "Maybe we should move away from where the fire spread. I can't imagine that it would be good for our chances of finding loot. Though I wonder if canned food would survive a fire like that."

"Let's just get out of here." Ben mumbles as he quickly makes his way towards the unburned neighboring house.

Your way is barred by a fence. There is a hole that a medium sized dog could fit comfortably through at the bottom.

Stooping down to see the width of the hole in the fence, Tyler blinks, and looks back up to his friends.
"I can maybe fit through there." he stands back up, running a hand through his hair and looking around to no one in particular, "Want me to give it a try?"

"Give it a shot, but make sure somebody goes with you so you don't disappear" Nix says. "I'm going to keep watch out here for a moment. My leg still feels like it was stabbed with a nail so I'm going to take a break for a moment. See if you can find something to tend to my leg if you do make it over to the house, but be careful, we don't know where those dogs ran off to. Speaking of which. Hey Ben, what exactly was it that they were carrying that freaked you out so much?"

A shiver skitters down Tyler's spine at the mention, "Yeesh...well...I guess, since you seem to have better eyesight than me, or at least pay better attention than I do, why don't you come with me, Ben? Your metal powers should be pretty handy in collecting stuff quickly, anyhow."
As his powers require touch to affect things other than himself, Tyler holds out a hand palm-up, "So...you comin'?"

Ben thought for a moment, his fear and need to help conflicting. Hundreds of thoughts collided and whisked through his mind, including the awkward image of Aladdin singing, "I Can Show You The World". Finally, he decided and took Tyler's hand.
"Let's do it."

Sascha knelt beside Nix.
"How bad?" She said, gesturing towards his leg, "If it is a cut, we will a first aid kit."

The next yard over looks very much in the same state your's was in, but a few things are different. There's a swing-set in the middle of the yard, and the back fence is lined with those spikey holly bushes. You can see the hole that the two dogs from earlier entered this yard from because the bushes around it are blackened, like something a burned a path through them.
The door into the house is smashed inwards, and lies in pieces in the kitchen.

On the other side of the fence, Tyler lets Ben's hand go, but not before returning the two of them from dwarf size to normal.
Tyler brandishes a steak-sword, and gestures toward the broken-in doorway, "I could maybe go first, Ben. Unless you want to."

Nix pulls up the leg of his pajamas. The back of it was now colored with blood but it seemed like the bleeding had lessened by now.
"I think about half the nail went into my knee like a splinter" Nix says, letting her examine the wound.
