I was implying that the big hotel would be sitting in one of the Squares somewhere, flashing a big "lots of gold in here" sign to attract "contestants".

Mostly, I just fell in love with a concept. I was thinking "The power to create shade tied to a location. Why not just have it flip the light switch. Now, how do I make that lethal?"

Fingerpaints Finn

Monster: Finn is a lithe creature about the size of a small child wearing a stained, tattered hospital gown. His body is coal black, and eyes continually open and close across its body. He has no mouth, ears, or nose. His fingers are covered in a rainbow assortment of differently colored inks, constantly wet, glowing, and dripping between his claws. He carries a first aid bag at it's side filled with different shades of this bright ink.

Life Force, Ink, Hospital, Lives: Finn began life in the St. Mary and the Angels Children Hospital. It is said that is a child is depressed or giving up hope, Finn will come and sit on the child's chest, steal their breath, mix it into a paint, and use it to paint fanciful designs on the walls of the room in order to make the child feel better. Such encounters will inevitable start to send the young patient into a downward spiral. When the child looks to be at their worst Finn will come again, take their remaining breath, and jar it up for safe keeping. He carries these little lives in his bag, and uses them only only on special occasions.

Drifting in the metal of the ocean with only an old rusty spade after a shipwreck, bricklayer Herbert Mintz lost his mind to the heat and isolation of the sea. He began to believe that he was really back on the job, scooping water out of the sea and layering it around his little driftwood boat as though he were building a house. Such was the height of his delusion that the sea eventually took pity on his and let him build his house out of water bricks.
