Was presumably one of the three, though I wouldn't know since I never heard of them.

Even he had the feel of a super-competent, highly intelligent, very trained and rather innovative person.

Like a few of your other characters.

He was trained by dragons.

Good fighter, intelligent, magical skill, draconic powers..

Point is, you're characters are rather predictable to us....even if you don't think so.

You've got me there, I don't think I've ever made one that was incompetent unless it was a side, character and not the one I was using. either way it's off topic though.  Exactly what is wrong with the mad scientist mechanic, or not mad maybe, more along the lines of Riff from Slug Freelance.

because the powers are more of a subtle thing and you have two blatant ones.

I mean, a Mad Scientist could work.. it's just I find it hard to imagine your characters acting in the matter Mad Scientists typically do.

To much self-possession and control.

...Machine construction seems like it would be more of a subset of the first one.

Not if it's of the rebellious kind.

Babbling Mad Scientist that makes Machines that incontrovertibly turn on him and try to kill him would be an interesting character.

Particularly if the Mad Scientist was ignorant of the fact.

*Robotic Mascot attempting to kill him*

"Oh, he's just playing!"

I don't think Mik has the mind set to play that kind of character.

That was fine, up until the last part.

Instead, try having him go..

"Oh, see how helpful it's being!  A job well done!"

You may want to tone it down a bit with this one.

What are you talking about, the reason he ran off with the parts gun was because the lower gyroscope was off by thirty eight degrees, other than that it was doing it's job perfectly.

Hmmmmmm, I don't really think the park would keep someone on who exacerbated their problems like that, but the power itself is sound.

How about this; Have you ever read a webcomic called Girl Genius. I don't care for it, but it has a mechanic that I've always liked: Sparks. A spark is basically, from what I can tell, a dormant mad scientist. Totally normal for most of the day, a Spark super intelligence manifests as a form of temporary insanity, during which time they have an empathic understanding of machines and are able to invent some really out there stuff.

I read that.

Any reason you don't care for it? I'm curious.
