It's not cosmic horror proper if it doesn't have tentacles. I mean, if you can't write how the creature moves or acts in a way that is inherently wrong then tentacles are a good visual shorthand for "I am some cosmic monstrosity."

Mik, what exactly do you plan to do with these monsters you make? Just to have them be?

Tentacles aren't creepy unless you're talking about them in that way.

But, I have a pet kraken, and am friends with many cephalopod merpeople; they're actually the more efficient and intellectual of the merfolk.

So I resent the thought that they're somehow creepy just because their system of motion and object manipulation is a bit more convenient than most.
