So, let's talk about Katsa.
She is from a medieval except some people have what amount to superpowers... Basically. She can be rather... frightening. See what I mean?
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

It would take a small army to bring her down..
So, be very very nice to her.

Indeed.
I need to find some more folks to comment on; I'm rather behind when it comes to bada**ness.

So, let me see who else...
Oh, right. So, in the library, I tend to read new books in a certain order. I start with the books by people I know are good. Then I move on to the books that look good.. Then I get stuck with the dregs.. Paranormal Romances.. Some of which have been.. moderately entertaining. In one, the main character.. Well. She is going vampire hunting. With a tazer. Imagine the loss of dignity at being defeated by a teenage girl with a pink rhinestoned tazor. I rather liked that book. It was humorous. There's also some more with less than helpless main characters. Like one with a panther shapeshifter bodyguard chick.. And a dhampir girl who went from mean to something near nice after she found out she was half human... Oh and the vampire hunter lady. She was awesome. So, not all paranormal romance books are craptastic. Though some are.. Depends.

I MUST GET THROUGH INCARCERON. The characters all seem awesome.
And then I will read Sapphique, and if others in the series exist, I shall read them as well. Paranormal romances tend not to arouse my interest, but even then, I rather suck at getting through books as of late. I prefer suspense, adventure, horror, fantasy and sci-fi, though, naturally. Like Kindred, a story about a black girl (repeatedly) traveling involuntarily back in time, to witness the life of her ancestors; one of whom is a slave, the other the slave's master.

I read the paranormal romances after I've read everything else.
I need something to read or I will die of boredom.

In reply to this post by Celadon's Penultimate
I've also read Incarceron.
... How far exactly have you gotten?

Oh, only 1/10 of the way through. Like page 40-something since I procrastinate to do ANYTHING.
I like it so far, but I'm so far writing my own stuff. If I could set aside my work, I'd be much further along; probably done. Too bad I got it RIGHT before the internet came back on. Arrgh, the Internet, she be a cruel mistress.

Grimalkin, The Witch Assasin of the Malkin Clan. She is fast, tireless, stronger than a grown man, and highly trained. And that's if she doesn't use magic. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Speaking of Witches, I figured it was about time to bring up some old Greek myth witches. We all know Greek myth was awesome.
#1 in my line-up: Pasiphae 1) Queen of Crete alongside King Minos 2) Mother of Asterion, the original Minotaur (screwed a bull, and lived to tell the tale) 3) Magic User 4) Her father was Helios, making her an immortal goddess #2 in my line-up: Circe 1) Mother of numerous kids by Odysseus the Greek hero 2) Magic User (skilled in illusions, necromancy and turning people into animals) 3) Her father was Helios, making her an immortal goddess #3 in my line-up: Medea 1) Mother of numerous kids by Jason the Greek hero 2) Magic User (capable even of killing the bronze giant Talos with one of her poisons) 3) Her grand-father was Helios, and her aunt was Circe (favored by the gods)

Check out Ben Franklin from Spinnerette
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |

Okay, you see that guy? That's Caim from Drakengard, and chances are if you're that close, I'm so sorry, but there isn't anything anyone can do. He's killed you already. The man has a PhD in genocide, with a minor in violence and pain. That lizard behind him is his partner Angelus, she's a dragon, and the only thing he cares about besides wanton murder. Caim comes from a world so ridiculously grimdark, that he comes off as an anti-hero even when being a violent psychopath. Over the course of three games he slaughters all the goblin races, murders an empire, hits our world so hard it causes physics to screw up, traumatizes a girl so badly that just SEEING him causes her to break down from sheer terror, and once killed a man so thoroughly that the Grim Reaper died. He is the MOST sympathetic character in the series. You can read about Caim's exploits here: http://lparchive.org/Drakengard/ and here: http://lparchive.org/Drakengard-2/ And his after-effects, here: http://lparchive.org/NIER/
