 Hm...similar to the elements on Warriors of Myth Wiki. And those which are similar (ice/water, earth/sand, etc) can share symbols (like with Pokemon, the ice/water, plant/poison, ground/fighting, etc).

Like maybe elemental bonuses?

Ex: The Fossegrim is a water elemental, and has more power when around a waterfall. Thus, when he is in an environment with a waterfall, he is stronger and takes somewhat less damage.

Right. Like say, a muck monster would have an advantage against an elf or a human when they are in a swamp.

It would add to any potential attacks they have, as well as psyching out the foe due to the advantage.

Well, we can draw from many sources. Pokemon is an obvious one, as is Yugioh. There's also Magic: The Gathering. There's also Ateil, which is an online card game with lots of interesting card types.

Such as Lycanthropes.

They have abilities that can only be used at certain times, which are arranged in stages. The first one, Undying, restores their health. The other stages do various other things.

Or you could let them be used in the form of potions or something, in which case, they would be lumped in with the object cards.
