 Stones and other items work the same way. Use on PKMN, and YOU reap the benefits. Um, except Potions and such. Those you use directly on you.

Well, in that case, you'll just have to trade them with friends (so they can evolve in the hands of somebody willing to trade them BACK), and then trade them back. Came up with that on the spot.
