The Cultist sees the approaching fighter and seems to start rushing. With Jase only a few feet away, the Cultist seems to panic and ends his chant suddenly, then rapidly points towards the charging fighter. A wave of invisible force flies forward, like an unseen wall moving at the speed of a battering ram.

Rory takes off after one of the cultists, who mutters some occult mantra. Rory whips out his sword and charges full speed, fearing the mantra may be a spell.

If it is, he's both getting rid of a looney zealot, and preventing harm to his comrades.

They could thank him later, he thinks, as he plunges the sword deep into the cultist's chest.

Then he shakes his head and raises his club to strike the nearby spellsword.

I curse under my breadth as my original target escapes my grasp. Instead I turn and raise my bow. As the brute raises his club, an arrow sinks into his hand, causing him to lose his weapon.

The last cultist, now weaponless, looks around.

"You think you have won?" He says. "Our brother has escaped. He will warn the others."

"You shall not be allowed to ruin our ritual!" The cultist pulls out one of the clay effigies, like those Phi found earlier.

He raises it with his good hand, ready to dash it on the ground.

The spinning sword takes the Cultist in his chest and the Effigy falls hard on the ground.

It lays there and a crack appears. The fiendish looking statue soon disintegrates into dust.

Then the dust stirs and something emerges. Something.. demonic.

The Thing looks like a scaly monkey with a twisted evil face. A thing of mischief turned cruel.  It cackles and turns to the foolish mortals. One hand raises and a orb of greenish energy flies out towards the one who freed it.

It turned to observe the others, and saw the half-elven Marv.

The thought of tasty magic caught the Imp's attention. It sprang with great agility at the spellsword.
