"I think we can fix that" my teacher said to me as I was lead off into a side room. In the center of the room is a blue light that shines onto a circle on the floor.
The teacher spoke again, "This light will amplify your magical ability while you stand within it, painfully so in fact. You will have to burn off as much energy as you can to last within it."
I take a cautious step into the light, and it feels like an electrical current runs through me, causing me to jump out.
"Keep practicing with this for the rest of the day" the teacher said "I must return to the other students. There is a ward ready to alert the restoration wing if you pass out."
As the teacher left, I mentally prepped myself for my second try. I conjure up an Arcane mote before I enter, to have less energy built up, and slowly work my way in.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
