Which skill?

This is why I just want to know what you want your character to be able to do reliably..

It's easier to just do it for you than explain it.

Let me get one thing straight, when you have a skill level that does a minus to an attribute it decreases that score, right? Why? Also, does it always increase the main attribute with high skill levels? Does this effect your other things determined by that attribute?

I want my character to have decent karate(Taken care of), good scientific skills so my IQ doesn't take a hit, and at least a +0 in acrobatics and acting.

Yes, for minus..

Basically, with higher levels you are buying off the minus, which gets you to zero, then you can keep going to increase it above the attribute.

It does not increase the main attribute, it just adds a number to it for the purpose of skill checks.

And I'd really rather not doing that level of rules heavy, because It would get very very complicated, very quickly..

It doesn't decrease...

Look at it this way.

Those minuses only count for that particular skill. They don't make your IQ lower for anything else.

When you want to use the skill, you roll dice. If you get a number lower than your skill level, you succeed.

So if you have 13 in Art and want to paint something, you roll three dice.

If you get a number lower than 13, you did it.

That's why you want to boost that number, so you succeed more.

You may ask why the minuses, it's because by default, most skills are Attribute - 6/5. So Attribute - 3 is a marked improvement.

How much does each biology rank cost?
Acting?
Acrobatics
Chemistry?
Physics?
Operation of weapons(Energy blaster)?

I know you said 2-4 but I need to know if I can afford some higher ranks in these.

It's not by rank, but rather by total improvement..



Basically, you just pay the cost under whatever you want to improve it to.

You want to raise a hard skill to Attribute+0? You just pay 4 points once.

If later on, you want to raise it to Attribute+1, then just add 4 more points to raise it to 8.


Acting is IQ/Average
Acrobatics is DX/Hard
Biology is IQ/Very Hard
Chemistry is IQ/Hard
Physics is IQ/Very Hard
Karate is DX/Hard

Screeching I wanted to raise a rank it would be four, or the previous number+four? I'll take +1 in acting, +1 chemistry, +1 biology. I'm not quite sure what that adds to. If I have any left over I'll see what to do.

And you still need karate skills..  

Honestly, with 15 IQ, you could just get a negative in some of these and still have a good score.

Oh, and sorry for not getting any work done on most of the character sheets...

I've been brainstorming for the setting..

Yes..

But it takes awhile to spend them after character creation.

I mean, the rules have like 200 hours of studying/practicing before you can spend a point on skills.

It also recommends against letting people get advantages afterwards..

And you would get points whenever I feel the plot/story/roleplay has progressed enough.
