Pilosthenes took a step forward on a tendril of hair, only to find himself having to scramble for steady footing. What had had that lunatic, on the ground below, done? He looked down to the sword-wielding warrior, and sure enough, his hairy stilt was ablaze.
At the sight, he menaced Mai, and huffed with disdain, "And here YOU come along, hacking away at my already-flaming mane! Oh, indeed!" Though it pained him to do, the Dasyarch Dignitary raised the one hair-stilt which had caught fire, and shook off the dead ends. In place of those, he was quick to sprout new growth, both from THAT stilt, and the others which had been chopped away at. Then he planted the restored tendril of hair down with an angry thump, hoping Mai was too slow to avoid the blow in time.

(Wulf, Mai does not have a flaming sword. She was thinking things were interesting after the hair burnt and then regret after Harriet's fireball. Fire is not within Mai's powers)

(No, keep it. I like behind the scenes stuff.)
"You know, it doesn't seem very fair." Knight says, watching the fight. "That large hairy fellow seems to be able to regrow any lost loch. And Miss Harriet's hair is fire, but I'm not sure if that means she's disqualified-" "She's not, fire can also be hair." Clarified Vaultboy. "Well in that case it will be difficult to douse. Miss Mai is at a marked disadvantage in a contest of this sort, her own hair being so vulnerable." "Pulling for her?" Vaunt asks, grinning. "She reminds me slightly of someone I know." he replies quietly. "Hmmm," Vault thought. What the kid said had some merit. Her hair was the most vulnerable out of all three, but was it really? Did she have some trick? He decided to see. There was no sound, no pulse, no indication that anything had happened. He didn't even move. But that didn't change the fact that he'd just given probability a swift kick in the pants. (Even the Odds: Dryad, some improbable, ridiculous, Final Destinationesque Rube Goldberg coincidence is going to bring Mai's hair up to par with that of her opponents in terms of sheer nightmare to cut-abillity. You get to decide what it is, because it's impossible for me to control.)

Mai grins, this opponent had the ability to manipulate their hair. And the other had flaming hair, this would be interesting...
She raises her free hand and catches the tendril in her hand and calls out, "What's this? Are you trying to crush me? I can carry fifty of you easily!" @GV: (That's fairly easy, I chose Mai's special ability well before this fight and it relates to healing. She's no slouch when it comes to physical strength either.)

The little plant had been slowly sidling up to Vaultboy and Knight for the past few seconds and was now leaning in overtly to hear them better. It's head was well within their personal space. It glanced between them as if trying to understand them, its head cocked slightly to the side.
Finally it spoke, a bit uncomfortably loud.s "What are you talking about?" It practically shouted, "Oh, is it about that hairy guy? He's weird. Or is it about the Scary lady with the blade? Oh, oh...or are you discussing some super secret thing? Can you tell me? No, you wouldn't not if it was a secret. Then it wouldn't be a secret anymore. I'm talking too much." It then ceased talking all at once and seemed to shrink back a few inches as if ashamed at itself. It's roots began twitching about and tapping nervously on the ground.

Knight looks around for the source of the voice, before looking down at the plant creature. Smiling warmly, he squats down to talk with it. "Oh no, not at all sir. Me and my new acquaintance Mr. Vaultboy were just talking about the duel that he instigated."
"What is it? I can't look away. Is it a talking cat?" Said Vault. "No, Mr-" "Shun it if it is." He interrupted. "Talking cats are awful." He shutters. "It's a good thing it's not a cat, then." Said Knight, a bit severely. None of it slips into his voice, however, when he goes back to speaking with the plant person. "They call me Knight. What's your name, Mr...?"

"Oh, They call me Little Root!" The creature replied instantly becoming less nervous. The large leaves on Little Root's back suddenly lift up like a peacock's feathers and somehow manages to smile despite having no mouth.
"...But Marv calls me Root, so I guess you can call me that too."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Root. Are you from around here?" Knight asks.
"Sup." says Vault, still keeping his eyes trained on the fight.

"Ah, you can, can you?" Pilothenes grumbled, "Then I reckon I needn't waste time trying to grapple with the likes of you!"
The bits of hair Mai held onto fell limp in her hand, as Pilosthenes cut those ends loose. Now was obviously the time for a more blunt means of combat. And, if he wasn't mistaken, he had something of an idea about just how blunt to get... The hairy tendril reached backward through the crowd. His sight in one eye diverted through the length of that tendril, allowing him to take no more than five seconds before retrieving what he'd been looking for. His sight restored, he whipped the tendril back through the crowd, now brandishing an adamant statue of The Penultimate by the head. Perhaps Mai's insolence would be solved with one of these to the head... If nothing else, it was worth a shot. And so, with a mighty heave, he brought it down. (@Dryad: Fortunate choice of powers. I'll bear that in mind.)

"Wha-"
The flying lighting orb hits Harriet with a loud crack, and she goes flying into a nearby table. From the wreckage of a cakes and puddings, there's a groan and a few curses in ancient Sumerian. (Mostly involving goats, intestines and the goddess of love.)
“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

Suddenly, there was a young girl of maybe fifteen sitting in a nearby chair. She was dressed in a white, toga-like gown and wore so much jewelry it seemed like a miracle that she could even move. One of these, a girdle embroidered with gold, seemed to be glowing slightly, though more faintly with each passing second- like something cooling off from atmospheric reentry.
"Damn. I missed Harriet getting zapped.", she said as she munched on popcorn pulled from a large bucket. "Well, there's always slow-mo action replays."

"Oh, is that thing yours?" Vaultboy says, again not averting his eyes. "You should keep it on a leash, or at least teach it that jumping on tables is bad."
He kept her suggestion in mind, though. That lightning strike would definitely look good in slo-mo.

Pilosthenes turned for a second from attempting to smash Mai, and faced Harriet with a mischievous glee, "Off your feet so early in the fight? Hehehe, sounds good to me. I'll be back to handle you in a minute."
As he turned back to go after Mai, he kept one tendril of hair trained in Harriet's direction. It would be unwise not to keep at least one eye on her, at all times...

Mai lay on the ground underneath the statue and thought about how she'd ended up beneath the stupid thing.
Sure, it had been a while since anyone had tried crushing her, but that didn't mean she could be so laid back. Well. it was time to rise... The statue suddenly flies into the air as Philosthenes turns back toward Mai and she jumps toward her opponent with her blade ready to rise through his body.

Pilosthenes catches his opponent's advance, and is quick to block, with the Penultimate's adamant statue.
A pleasant thought crossed his mind. How considerate, that Penultimate; his valuables always did make such convenient weapons...

"Haha, this turned out better than I ever expected. Seriously, this fight is a complete..." Vaultboy starts, but he trails off as he see finally gets a good look at the statue Pilosthenes was swinging around. "Bastard!"
In response to a sudden influx dark thoughts his hands started to give off a faint light, growing larger and brighter until two blazing points of white fire engulfed his hands and started snaking it's way up his arms. Knight suddenly looked over, and seeing the fire spread over his new acquaintance quickly put himself between him and root. "Mr. Vaultboy, what-" There was a whooping howl directly behind them that drew most of their attention, however. Both turned around to see the spectators behind them, some man in noble dress and an entire entourage of servants, shifting and changing. There was a sick cracking sound as their mouths and fingers elongated, cloths ripping as they grew larger and their backs arched. Coarse black hair began to grow over their entire bodies, except the nobleman and his wife. They were growing shaggy coats of silver and, strangely, strawberry blond respectively. With a collective howl they used their powerful legs to leap right over Vaultboy, Knight, and Root into the ring of spectators. The three had no way of knowing that the spectators behind them were werewolves, who had moved closer to observe the fight and whose patriarch had been boasting that, if only they had some moonlight, they would show these pretenders who really wore the hair at this party. "What in the world?" Was all Knight could say. "I didn't do that." Replied Vault, just as confused. "I mean, I can do that." he said, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck with his still flaming arms. "But I didn't. That's just the moonfire." "What is moonfire?" Knight asked. "I don't know, It's just something I have. It doesn't burn hot, it gives off moonlight, it tried to turn me into a cow..." "A cow?" Knight asked incredulously. "Where do you think I got the ears?" Vault replies, before lifting up the hair on his forehead and reveling two small nubby horns. "Seriously, a cow. I think it was mad I wasn't using it." They were interrupted by a commotion across the way, on the opposite side of the spectator ring. Three young men were pushing their way out of the crowd, hastily fastening belts. As they moved out their form began to shift like magic, as each man turned into a wolf the size of a bear. These three had also been halfheartedly boasting about how they would show the three in the ring what for, and the other group of wolves joining the fray had emboldened them to me those boasts a reality. Then a shaggy red gorilla leaped off the nearest building into the ring, pounding it's chest and letting out a feral war cry. It didn't have anything to prove. It'd just escaped from an animal hospital while everyone was at the party, having contracted a disease which causes shaggy red hair to grow all over ones body that could be spread by either its scratch or bite. "Oh wait maybe I did do this." Muttered Vaultboy quickly. "When I evened the odds. If the other two get a scratch they're going to be just a hairy as the the big hairy guy." "When you what?" asked Knight again, hastily trying to keep up. "I have lots of weird, semi-random powers. One day I woke up and could turn into a bee." Explained Vaultboy. "Oh, this has just gotten completely out of hand." Said Knight, regretfully looking at the various animals now charging into the fray. "Make sure Mr. Root isn't harmed." He said, and rushed in as well. "Got ya." Called Vaultboy, looking at the little plant thing for the first time. "Yo, what's up?" (Regal Silver Werewolf joined the fray) (Noble Blond Wearwolf joined the fray) (10 Werewolves joined the fray) (3 Hexenwulfen joined the fray) (Red Gorilla joined the fray) (Knight joined the fray)

Mai looks around the ring at the newcomers and quickly considers her options. While she was immune to contracting diseases such as lycanthropy due to her race's biology, she didn't like taking her chances with the other groups, so...
"Defense activate! Chitin~!" Mai's skin suddenly starts glowing orange as a strong supernatural armor manifests around her skin and she moves to strike at the head of one of the werewolves. (Almost forgot to mention, but all members of Mai's race use silver weapons. It's not because they hate werewolves or the like, but because their main goddess is the goddess of the moon.)

"Jumping on a tab-"
From the collapsed table where Harriet lay, there's a loud humming noise and the ground begins to rumble. Suddenly, from the pies of cake emerges a what appears to be a multicolored comet. It screams angrily in Celtic and makes a bee-line for Pilosthenes.
