Right, he converted your shot to power for him and the Guardsmen and converted any matter in the blast to shielding for him. Now the Guardsmen are stronger and more powerful.

The being takes a breath and then breaths out one of the dimensions it has eaten into the oncoming universe, before using its ability like a black hole to absorb the resulting matter after the explosion.

(Facts: He is so dense from what he has consumed it is practically impossible to reach or detect his Soul / Mind inside him. His original ability was the ability to eat anything and store it inside himself in a labyrinth type system. The Core he stole is the Core for Entry/Exit Data.)
