I just went through a list of 30 something powers and when I finished and returned to the homepage none of the ones that I had accepted had appeared. I think that the site just has not updated yet but i'm wondering why it takes so long for the powers to show up.

That's because Justin is using database caching to accelerate the site's performance. Basically, it saves a "cache" version of the site which allows users to access the site faster. But if changes are made, they will only be visible the next time a new cache is saved.
