The group thanks Sapphire before heading in the directions she gave them. When they come upon the centaur village, Fabian cries out, "Hey! Anyone know where we can find the Succubus, Brynhildr?"

The Centaurs paid the group no mind, except for one.

A voice came up from behind them.

"Did you say...Succubus?" It was Dr. Harkan, "Why, yes. A Succubus is in my care as we speak..."

Harkan looked them over, growing curious.

"Only if you tell me a little about yourselves." He finally said, "For my notes and all that. My name is Doctor Harkan. Not just a doctor, though; also a scientist. And you all seem fascinating specimens."

The group told the good Centaur doctor, and when Harkan finished his scribbling, he nodded, pleased, before pointing the group off into the east. They would find her in the doctor's house, healing up with a nice plate of hay-mead soup.

Having found Brynhildr, the group hangs outside of the house and quietly argues over what to do.

Kimi: "It looks like Brynhildr is hurt. Think she lost her memories of That event?"

Tiebil: "I doubt it, but it does look like she's hurt too badly to go anywhere for now."

Aguinas: "True, but when she does recover, she'll be able to get around with her wings which will give her freedom of movement. I say we break them."

Mashi: "That may be pointless. Remember what the centaur said, he's a doctor. We don't know what level of treatment they can give her. He may be able to regenerate her wings with magic."

Fabian: "Brynhildr will be delayed for however long it takes for them to regenerate her wings though."

Penni: "We don't know how long that can take them either. It takes our best Tanuki a couple of years to regenerate damaged wings, but with these centaurs? Who knows! We sure don't!"

The group continues arguing outside the doctor's house as Brynhildr eats the hay-mead soup, hoping to get better quickly so that she could leave as soon as possible.

Re: Lords of Creation (Story Thread 3)

Gentleman Vaultboy
They had made it to the wall before The Reasonable reveled his plan. Dalton stared at him, mouth agape.

"So, this is a memory?"
"Yes."
"And I'm not real?"
"In all the ways that matter."
"So, your plan is toooo...?"

The Reasonable looked at him, and shook his head.

"So, it stands to reason that nothing in here can hurt me, now that I know it's just a memory."

It's at that point that Dalton took an arrow to the throat, and slumped over gurgling. The reasonable looked down at him dispassionately. After all, it's not like he was real. He turned to the soldiers marching up, and stood with his hands behind his back. They stopped.

"Why aren't you running?" one of them asked, in the same voice as the people from before. They probably all had the same voice. Perhaps he had never seen them properly.

"I don't need to. I've figured it out. We're in one of my memories, are we not? You have no power over me now."

They looked at him for a few long, quiet moments. Then, as one, they began to laugh. Great hateful bursts of sound that echoed throughout the burning wreck, and The Reasonable realized that they all must be laughing, every phantom soldier. The lead one stepped forward, and began to grow.

"Well well well, you know do you? The question is, do you remember?"

As the giant reached out and grabbed him, the Reasonable realized that he had made a frightful error.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Babysitter fled across the forest, and the hunters followed. Always behind, always just one step behind. She knew the feeling, knew that the end was coming. Because, deep in her heart, she remembered. her brain had just had to catch up.

The big field, the killing ground, the feeling of arrows boring into her from all sides, these were the things she was approaching. But her feet, and the memory in them, carried her onward.

She broke into the field, legs pumping, breath hot in her lungs (new feeling, that was. Well, old and new. Like a second hand dress. She'd had one, it was orange and she had loved it) and knew that she would,'t even make it halfway before she was cut down. The first arrow should be coming right....about.......

It didn't come. She wasn't stuck in the back. She ran on, feeling some apprehension. That wasn't right. She passed the part of the field where the second one had bitten into her leg, where the third had tasted her shoulder and still nothing. She could do it this time, she could escape!

She slid to a stop in the snow. That was wrong, she though. Behind her, the hoof-beats stopped. She turned to face them.

"What's the deal here?"

The riders in black, who had hounded her for she didn't now how long, looked at one another in confusion. Finally, their leader said, "Run girl. Or we'll kill you."

"Yeah, well, you missed your que by a landslide. I was supposed to start dying back there." she said, pointing behind them.

"We will kill you in due time. Keep running."

She turned around, looking at the treeline she had been headed toward. In her memories, it had been salvation. If only she could reach it, she would live to see her mother and father again (She had a mother and father! She was BORN!). But now she looked at it, really looked, and could just make out the dark shapes hidden among the trees. Big, dark, shapes.

"I think I'd rather have it here, if you don't mind." she said.

The riders shuffled uncomfortably.

"Well," she said, not even turning to look at them. "Come on! I made my choice, and this is what happened. I can't just change it. So either DO IT, or give me an arrow so I can do it myself!"

She heard the knocking of bowstrings. They had no more power over her. She heard the release, and the whistle, felt the pain (all to familiar), and them the memory world shattered like glass around her.

She fell into a desert, face first into a dune, and leaned up on her elbows spitting sand out of her mouth.

"Huh," she said to no one. "I can't believe that worked. Hahahahah." She rolled over on the sand and sat up, peering around. This place looked bad. She stood up. No, she was definitely not in Spectropolis anymore. Nor was she in her own memories. She had never been to a desert, at least not like this. In fact, this place didn't look like a world she knew at all.

She looked out and saw a black shape, kneeling on the ground. She made her way toward it. "Hello! Can you help me? I think I'm lost!"

Harkan was surprised. It was a bit of a shock how these foreigners thought so much alike.

"We...we don't have many healing magics. Most healers here are non-mages, and most mages don't seem to care for the medical profession. As a matter of fact, many probably wouldn't even associate with me. They're a pretty independent bunch, those mages."

Mashi smiles, "I see. That's interesting and quite informative. Our people's combat and healing magicks developed hand-in-hand together. As one became better, so did the other. They tend to be used to decrease the time spent convalescing and increase the amount of time that one can train. Quite interesting, indeed."

Re: Lords of Creation (Story Thread 3)

The Watchman flouted up the main thoroughfare of the entertainment district, heading for the dome.

The center of the city. At sunset the red light caught it just right, making it sparkle like a ruby. He landed before the large doors and walked inside, his footsteps echoing in the emptiness. He took his seat, the chair reshaping itself into a simple white wooden frame.

He looked at all the chairs in the room. So many gods. Nothing compared to his old plane, but still it unnerved him slightly that their were so many of them.

Oh well, best focus on the matter at hand. His guests should be arriving shortly.

'Wha?" he manages to mumble to the figure before him.

In front of Aox is a male Lycanthrope swinging a wooden sword, "Darn, Ah wanted ta be able to have a live target even if for only a short while. Why'd you have to get up so fast?"

A Tengu stands beside the Lycanthrope and looks Aox over, "And who might you be, sleeping in the field that we have our swordsmanship classes?"

Beyond the Tengu and Lycanthrope, a line of students swings their wooden swords up and down repeatedly. Another group appears to be having a skirmish as yet another group is fighting one-on-one battles.

Shoulders rocking with silent sobs, the figure's featureless face turned towards the babysitter.

A voice rushed into her mind, age old and impossibly sad. With a tone of resignation it asked..

What harm have I caused you, child?

A wheezing gasp emerged from a nearby door, as an exhausted looking Gant stumbled into the room. She was huffing and puffing as it on the verge of death, and sank into her thankfully nearby chair.

"Awww. You were right. She didn't give out halfway up the stairs!" The brightly dressed young man entered, followed by the darkly garbed one carrying Sonia.

The Babysitter

"Uh, well...um..."

This situation had the potential to get kind of awkward. Screw it, you charge forward.

"Well, unless you're the one who trapped me in a horrible nightmare/memory dimension, and I'm pretty sure you're not, nothing." she says, kneeling down and resting on the balls of her feet.

"I mean, I don't think we've ever met, so you couldn't have done anything to me."

Yet that voice, it nagged at her.

"Have we met?"

The Tengu blinks once in slight surprise before saying to Aox, "So then you're the hero who enrolled yesterday? Well then, you see the ones doing one-on-one combat over there?"

The tengu barely pauses long enough for Aox to take a quick glance before continuing, "Good. Go over to them and wait until I get over there. I'm the teacher for Swordsmanship, Kotaro Feathersword."

Kotaro walks off inspecting the students' swordsmanship, critiquing them on any mistakes he sees.

One of the pairs is a Yukionna and a Yukiotoko fighting rapidly with swords, along the blades is rapidly forming frost. The other pair is a male Lycanthrope and a female Imp fighting, but soon they take a break and notice Aox. The Imp cheerfully says, "Hello! What's your name? I'm Koneko. The Lycanthrope here is Sora and the Yuki over there are Koriko and Fubuki. All of us are Lady Mina's heroes."
