Maybe since there's a full moon in that picture, there might be some howling and Kung Furry action.

Unless you are of the mindset that this movie is taking itself seriously, because it clearly isn't. Its funny simply because its meant to be over the top, off the wall and generally a satire of other films.

Anyways:

So apparently the new latest trend is this thing called "Escape Rooms"

Remember those old flash games where you were trapped in a room and did point and click puzzles to find the key to escape a room? Well somebody went and made a physical version of those.

In general, each escape room has a special theme that goes along with it (Pirates, Video Games, Ctchulu, etc). You then get locked in a room with 1 - 7 of your friends and have an hour to escape the room to succeed. Each room has its own sets of puzzles and scenery to search through to get out.

I have successfully escaped from 3 out of 3 rooms that I have done so for, with my best time being 8 mins and 10 seconds left when I did it with my family.

Here is my experience with a Pirate themed room to give an example:

So for the Pirate them, you are locked inside your captain's quarters for an hour. The first mate has distracted the captain and has snuck you in to steal the pirate's map and escape with the treasure before the captain returns. There is an actor, the first mate, who stays at the door and opens a window in the door to give clues whenever necessary. You can buy clues by finding gold coins hidden in the room. The captain's quarters itself had a globe, model ships, a fake parrot, port holes, and general other pirate scenery for there to be hidden things in to discover. We also had the captain's log that was a journal that was full of clues to move throughout the room. We were able to open secret rooms by blowing a hole in the wall with a cannon (Just turned it in place and the wall slid open), which had more puzzles. There was even this black light we had to use to find the final clue that was hidden on the map once it was all put together.



This is my local favorite one, but they are popping up everywhere so anyone interested could probably find a local company near them.

I'd heard about these Escape Rooms. They sound exciting but I don't think they'd really be my cup of tea.

If you can get a small group of people together they can become really fun.

Sort of like a scavenger hunt / puzzle put together.
