Oh, um, well, in that case, ignore that previous statement. Rules are great, but, well...let's not gild the lily.

Alright, What were you using Marv?

I seem to recall yours being a mixture of #/per day and passives.

As such, you already have a cost thing.

What do you think a good limit would be?

And what cost do you think would be appropriate for each ability?

I would say the limit should be linked to your level.

10 + Twice your level?

Sure, I'm fine with using anything you set. I think it would be easier if you told me what each ability costs and I just worked wth that.

You may want to add those to your class in the Knowledge thread.

Also, for you the cost seems to balance out with the rest. You have a mixture of passives, abilities can be used at-will and limits per day.

However, because of the way the other systems work, others may be able to make more usage of their abilities.

Once I've worked out something to use as a baseline, I may tell you to increase the number on some of your usages per day, Shadow.

I'll post the shortcomings and uses per day in a little bit.

Ok.

I'm going to go with 4 + Twice your class level as your strain limit. For every point you exceed that strain limit, one of your physical stats is treated a step lower.

For example, Bob the Spellsword is level four. As such he has a strain limit of 12. He decides to overuse his abilities, and pushes his strain up to 14. Because of this, his Str and Con are treated one step lower. In his case they go from Mid and High to Low and Mid.

Now, for each ability, I'll put something up. Everyone else can come by and poke at it if they think It's wrong.

These are the costs for the ability of that level. (I'm to lazy to put the whole name).

Level one: 1 Strain Point.
Level two: 1 Strain Point.
Level three: 2 Strain Points.
Level four: 2 Strain Points.
Level five: 4 Strain Points.
Level six: 4 Strain Points.
Level seven: 3 Strain Points.
Level eight: 4 Strain Points.
Level nine: 5 Strain Points.
Level ten: 4 Strain Points.
Level eleven: 4 Strain Points.
Level twelve: 6 Strain Points.
Level thirteen: 6 Strain Points.
Level fourteen: 6 Strain Points.
Level fifteen: 6 Strain Points.
Level sixteen: 8 Strain Points.
Level seventeen: 7 Strain Points.
Level eighteen: 8 Strain Points.
Level nineteen: 9 Strain Points.
Level twenty: 10 Strain Points.

Also, I've figured out that you can get your strain limit just by taking the level one (6 Max Strain) and adding two each level.

Most abilities consume about 25%~ of the total strain for the level of the ability. For example, A level twelve Spellsword could use Fire Blade about four times before being unable to use it again without going over strain limits.

Um, I got a complaint.

I thought Bob was a sorcerer.

No class-crossing.

This is Bob the second.

Bob the FIRST was a sorcerer.

For my character I have Potion License I and II and Herbalism that I need to flesh out.
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Well, how many potions do you start out summoning? How many with License I? License II?

And Herbalism should be the beginning of herbal knowledge, which grows over time; perhaps the upper level potions require your herbal knowledge, and it may also allow you to discern traces of potions in drinks (like if a drink is spiked, etc.), how to counteract enemy spells/potions with certain herbs and the like.

I start off with a balance of Zero. Each potion use causes me to go into the negative until I repay my clan for using the potion. Potion License would just give me a buffer before I go negative.

I don't make the potions myself, so herbalism would be to send to the Clan to repay for potions, but I need to know how to not make it overpowered in removing my debt. I was thinking that at the times it is able to be used that it could remove half my debt.

Well, you have to find the materials to return to the Clan, right? That's definitely a caveat for the more complex stuff, like eye of newt, or unicorn horn, or essence of demon wing, etc.
