So then, what do you think of the Soulsword Wielder class and the Mageslayer NPC class? I think that the Mageslayer should be a boss NPC if you decide to use it.

The Soulsword thing seems a bit to.. integrated with another setting to really use.

Mageslayer will make a nice boss. I would reccomend moving the 1st ability up a bit. Being able to shut down a mage at the first level is a bit extreme, but at higher levels, then it should be more acceptable.
