So I'm trying this game.

I've made two elf wizards.

One was killed by an irate shopkeeper, and the other died from a falling rock.

I can only see this going well.

Nethack is like Dwarf Fortress in that the designers thought of everything and it is very hard.

Dying is nothing in that game. You want to hear a recipe for horror?

Touching a cockatrice with bare flesh causes instant petrification.
The player can polymorph briefly into a random monster, gaining all its abilities.
There are magical items that let you control your transformation, change gender or remain in a form indefinitely.
Female snakes, birds and dragons can lay eggs.

Whilst playing as a female character, polymorph into a cockatrice, lay dozens of eggs, revert to human, and throw the eggs at enemies to petrify them instantly.

My last character had a ring of polymorph.

He turned into a titan, briefly.

Then a jackal ate him after he turned back..

Sounds interesting, is it free to play?

On a different note, was playing with D&D character builder and found interesting combination.

The artificer class (At level 11 if you're not the warforged race) can take on the Self-forged paragon class, becoming robotic.
And since the artificer class is an arcane type class, at level 21 they can take on the Draconic Incarnation Epic Destiny class, allowing them to shapeshift into a dragon.

So, playing as a Minotaur at level 30, I can turn into a giant robo-minotaur-dragon.
