Yup that would work. Also with the training for sorcerium you will learn to control the density of the metal as you gain more experienced. A highly skilled sorcerium user can make armor piercing rounds for any gun.

Any suggestions for a magic style?

I'm wondering if some kind of Arithmancy would be good.

Well, I tend to go for the Elemental Magics, and I also like light/dark magic. What was Arithmancy again? You could try magic that causes the user to transform in a burst of flames.... Try Seventh Sanctum generator. All of its stuff is interesting and could actually work. I've tried it out for my own amusement, but it does work.

Arithmancy is divination with numbers.

Or, as I like to make it, they see the numbers in everything.

Speed, Distance, Velocity, Acceleration, Force, Angles.

The could calculate the spread of shrapnel from a grenade exploding or tell where an attack would land.

just allow summoning, but instead of summoning actual beings just make it solidifications of magic that are non sentient and come into existence upon summoning, or better yet, just releasing inner id in the form of monsters.
