Well, if it does nothing to significantly add to heat or light, it won't draw any monster, because it doesn't attract enough attention.

So it can't hurt to make one.

I had the spear strapped through the back of my backpack, a sword in it's scabbard on my hip, and the rifle was strapped the the right of my supply pack, and that's it actually.
