I am yet to start progress due to lack of resources; this will hopefully be fixed soon in some manner. Don't worry, I haven't forgotten.

Although Philote, with his experience, may take over the entire project if he so desires.

So, nobody thinks we could round up enough money, even from all around the world, if we came up with an interesting concept? Even though that's how 'Andrew' is funding the making of his Homestuck game, and numerous other people fund fan-based projects?

The best I could do would be a 2-D demo of the idea. I do not really have the resources for a project like this either. Saving data, getting info from the SPL site, and online multiplayer are not within my range of skills yet.

I'm slowly learning the basics of the lua programming language.

I'm experiencing a similar thing with Java because of Minecraft. When you look at the amount of technical information I do, it's impossible to avoid learning things like how crafting, smelting, drops, spawning, brewing and the like work; the game is deleting one or more items and spawning in one or more other items. The only missing piece of the puzzle now is the actual programming language, which I've observed in conversations between those new to modding and those more experienced in it.

Once I get Minecraft, I should be able to get the hang of it all through a process of trail and error, analyzing other game code, replicating existing game code with minor modifications and most importantly, looking it up on the internet when I get frustrated.

I'm currently thinking of programming most of my Minecraft mod idea to a usable state (hopefully to the point that Marv can choose to install the mod on the server; as of 1.3 it has to be multiplayer anyway) before I'll give a shot at coding a new game. If I run into difficulties, I'm going to get help from a friend of mine who is doing a university course on such things, which includes learning Java. It may get to the point of being a combo mod between us if he is interested in doing so.
