"If you're really intent on this, I'll give you the rundown. Bowie can turn himself into diamond. Benny can set things on fire with his brain. There's no real indication of when it's happening, and I think he can do it to anything he can see. I could only tell it was him because every time I heard something catch fire around here he'd start yapping. The shaggy one can control his own hair into these tentacle things. I'm not sure what your friend on the stairs can do but it must be impressive because I've seen that one punch through a whole car. Escape attempt, don't want to talk about it. One of the westies can jump into something organic and come out of something else organic. You gotta be careful though, because I don't know hat the other one can do and those two are damn near identical."

Hearing what Jeff said to Nix, Tyler grew yet more afraid, something he wasn't sure was quite possible. And Jeff seemed just as scared as he and Ben, if not worse. That made Tyler's fear just that much more legitimate. Jeff wasn't just anticipating what the monster dogs were capable of; he'd seen first hand.

Tyler blinked and lowered a steak-sword an inch or two.

"I...I think we should give him one of the steak-knives. Not that I trust him with a full-on steak-sword, but he should maybe have something to protect himself."

"I was not aware I had been promoted to the position of 'Tactician' within our motley crew." Sascha said as she descended the stairs, "But I suppose I shall accept it with resignation."

She glanced at Jeff. "You will, of course, know I am Sascha. Now you also know I like to eavesdrop."

"Might I suggest we tend to our wounds before charging off to fight the canine menace? We can discuss strategy while applying bandages. I suggest we get some water boiling and find extraneous clothing for our multiplicative friend to duplicate. I gathered some wood and lighter fluid. Some charcoal is in the grill outdoors, if anyone, say our density defying friend, could obtain if needed."

It was far to late to turn Jeff over to the dogs in hopes that they would simply leave us alone, after all. The dogs would likely have grouped us all together with him. At any rate, his talent would be a valuable asset. The information gathering potential alone was well worth the risk.

She made a mental note to start carrying around pencil and paper on the off chance she needed to communicate something without Jeff hearing.

"Oh, so you heard that" Nix says hoping that his word choice would not go to her head.

"Well, I suppose it would not be wise to argue against your power. Let's grab what we can and hold up somewhere where we won't immediately have to worry about the dogs while we prepare."

He sort of smiles at the implications of Sasha pseudo-threat.  "Oh, you've got your own Mel."

He uses this as a cue for getting up and walking over to the corpse you've been having this little pow wow around. He finishes ripping open the shorn backpack wide open, sending cans rolling onto the floor, and throwing cloths and journal out of the way, revealing a white box with a red cross stamped right on it. He tosses this to Nix. "That should be all stocked up. If it's not we had supplies gathered upstairs. There was running water up their too, last I remember. You probably don't have to worry about them for now. They're terrified."

Nix opens the box and inspects the contents. Anything in it in short supply would have to be kept and only used if Sam could duplicate it first.

"I'm going to take this upstairs and inventory what all we have. Leon, why don't you get that charcoal Sascha mentioned while the rest clean up these bodies. Remember to take someone with you though, nobody should leave this house alone."

With the others, all of a sudden, not so outright suspicious of this Jeff character, Tyler's muscles relaxed. Though, with his slight slouch, a pinge of pain startled him back upright. He looked down, to where his wound could be seen through his torn shirt.

To his fortune, it looked, at least, to have stopped bleeding. Perhaps it wasn't as bad a gash as he'd estimated, through all the blood. Either way, Tyler headed over to Nix. He wanted to be one of the first to get his wounds looked at.

Nix left the others to talk or work on whatever they willed, heading upstairs to examine what they had to work with. It would also give him a quiet moment to tend to his leg with the new medkit. The spare battery he had grabbed from one of his flashlights earlier could be stored with the medkit as well to be duplicated later, as could the battery-less flashlight so he would not have to carry it in his pajama pockets all day.

Nix thought for a moment, wondering if the  battery would lose effectiveness with each duplication. Either way, it would be best to get any medical supplies duplicated before being used up.

After taking a moment with his leg, Nix moves around and loots whatever can from the upper floor, consolidating it all with the medkit in the upstairs bathroom for storage.

The upstairs contains a pair of bathrooms, but all medical supplies seem to have been consolidated already by Jeffs old group in the master bedroom, just across from the childrens room. A suitcase lays open in the middles of the large bed, supplies spilling out onto the sheets. It seems they grabbed whatever they could from at least this neighborhood.

(You have gained: 3 cans of spaghetti and meatballs, 4 cans of beans, 2 packets of ramen noodles, half a jar of pickles, 2 cans of preserved peaches, 12 bottles of water, 3/4ths of a box of graham crackers, 1 9mm pistol with six bullets, a police officers billy club, a hatchet, 3 rolls of cloth bandages, 1 bottle of painkillers, 1 bottle of flintstones vitamins, 3 bottles of antibiotic pills, and 1 tube of lotion for use on rashes and burns.)

In the closet are heaped the clothing of the man and woman of the house, as well as some relatively unused jogging sneakers. Some of this stuff might be in your size.

The room at the end of the hall appears to be an office/library. A computer sits inert on a expensive looking desk, and the walls are lined with huge tomes. From the titles they seem to be law books.

The last room appear to be some sort of game room, containing a large television strung up with video game consoles. There's a snooker table and a pair of pinball machines, as well as a poker table surrounded by the most comfortable chairs you have ever seen, red velvet affairs hewn from mahogany.

Nix adds to the consolidated goods and uses some of the bandages and painkillers for his leg.

Taking advantage of having a quiet moment away from the group, Nix changes into some of the clothes left behind by whoever used to live here. He grabs some blue jeans as well as a green shirt on the off chance it helps him blend into something later, but retains his old shoes.

Nix makes one last trip around the upstairs section of the house, stopping by the computer to see if there is any chance it might work if they needed it later, before returning downstairs so that he is not on his own for too long.

(Dryad, tell me if I'm using your characters name incorrectly)

Nix rejoins the group below. "I've taken care of matters upstairs. So long as no looters come by, if they even exist, we should be able to make do until we can deal with the dogs. Have any of you finished any of the matters you were going to attend to?"

"Oh, and Ishikawa, I've come up with this brilliant idea all on my own. You should use your electrical powers to get the computer upstairs working. We might be able to better inform ourselves on events both locally and globally."

(*yawn* Hmmm??? Oh, yeah, you're using her name correctly, if you're talking to someone in an Asian country which is fine)

Nanami looks up happily, the word 'computer' piercing even the loud music that was playing on her iTouch, "A computer? Where? Can I watch anime and TV shows on it?"

Nix moves to the backdoor of the house to scan the surroundings while they still had a moment to relax and checks the time of day as well.

He calls back to the main room "I don't think I remembered to ask, but do you have any idea why everyone vanished?"
