I didn't think it was so terrible. The outcome was predictable and I think probably the correct one. I think Goku is the better character of the two, but Superman is ridiculous and Goku can not really beat him currently.

Indeed predictable. An american show would never make their national superhero icon loose to a foreigner.

And the discussion is rather pointless when the rule of thumb is "Superman is as strong as he needs to be".
Which means his limits are determined by the writer of the story, hence no upper limit.
Not even God would win against such a character.

And in reality, Goku and Superman would never have a death battle if they met.
At most it would be a friendly sparring match.

I think Death Battle was pretty fair in the assessment of the fight. Superman is just plain ridiculous, but I don't think they were making the point that Superman is unbeatable no matter what in whatever match up he is in, just that in this match up, the ideals of the two characters are at odds making it so that Goku is at a disadvantage. Goku is much more consistent in his development and powers throughout his series while on the other hand Superman has both high and low points at extreme ends of the spectrum.

I wouldn't mind as much if they didn't make goku 4000. times weaker than he actually was faked one of superman's 50x supernova durability feats, and didn't factor in his strength feats as gravity manipulation.

They just sort of scaled it to fit the animation. My rule of thumb for Death Battle is to not judge it based on how the animation goes since the animation is usually independent of the analysis they do. The animation exists to show off some key points, but the animation does not dictate who wins, they choose who wins based on the analysis they do and then just create a fun animation to get with it. That way, even if something funky goes on in the animation, like Superman no selling Goku's Kamehameha, it does not really factor in to how they determined that Superman would be Goku. With Superman, even if we throw out one ridiculous feat, he has a mountain of ridiculous feats to replace it. The hard part with Goku is that the best way to determine how strong he is deals with comparing him to other characters instead of seeing the feat / outcome from Goku himself.

I READ THE FUCKING WEB COMIC 6 TIMES.

that's how much I enjoy this series....also no no one punch man death battle, death battle doesn't know how to handle it and they'd just have Superman win or something. The closest we'll get is the Chuck Norris one they made.

The only let down I ever got from the series was that Round Circle turned out to be male.....although after those two fights he's probably a Eunuch now.

That and how much time is between the releases but I've go mob psycho to tide me over at least.

In all honesty, I don't mind One's artstyle that much, it has a good nature to it in the contrast used between serious moments and goofy moments that was transferred over to the redraw. So I'm joyful whenever an update of either comes out.

Recently I've come up with a little pet theory concerning the two series mob is working on now. What if one punch man is a sequel to Mob Psycho. Spoilers ahead for someone who hasn't read either. Considering that that ghost of a psychic has been re released onto the world, and considering he looks a hell of allot like Homeless King's "god" hallucination what if he's the one that's causing the monsters in One Punch Man as a sort of Competition between Him and Mob and Saitama is Mob's creation?

Considering that in Mob Psycho psychic power can alter plant life to control it and hyper accelerate growth while doing the same things to human bodies, and that there are monstrous ghosts with physical forms, I wouldn't put it far past the psychics in that manga to be able to turn people into monsters if they were powerful enough.  Even the way Homeless King's "God" killed him is very similar to how the dead psychics spirit killed several of the psychic army's members by draining their energy to feed himself after his release from the ghost tamer's spirit Jar.

And if you remember during the end of the kidnapping Arc Mob released all of his powers into Reigen, effectively making him super human for a sort period of time. What if Mob after having ascended into some sort of psychic god after several years decided to choose one individual and continually compound and stabilize his psychic energy into them focusing solely on physical capability?

So, I believe I've only read the redraw version of One Punch Man so far. Is it worth going to go find the other older version? If so, do I need to start at the beginning or just whatever part the redraw is at.

Haven't seen Mob Psycho either.

Not really.
Sure the original is ahead of the redraw. But the redraw will eventually catch up.
Plus in the redraw some original side stories were added.

It depends on the person but personally the "spoilers" from reading the original don't interfere with the majesty of the redraw.

so how many times did you watch that. I clocked myself at around five after I found a you tube video of it before I just decided to go frame by frame. and Saitama's punch is actually more impressive than you'd realize upon first viewing unless you were good at noticing stuff. Look at the clouds in the background when Genos looks at the destroyed cliff.
