So, I know I haven't fangasmed about Jojo for a while, but right now a girl is going to try and steal Jesus Christs heart out of the chest of the president of the United States.

Step one: Seduce the first lady!

As with everything in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, it somehow manages to make perfect sense in context.

Don't know if this is the right thread for it, but what the hey: Check this out.

Coming out of France with a whopping 11.2 million dollar budget. Did you see that Mime? Aren't his powers cool as hell?

Mimesis. I've always loved that ability.

And the show itself looks super-cool; definitely something I might find myself cheering on. I'll definitely give it a look (some time in the future, before I die, hopefully)...

Thanks. Now I have another bad stereotype of French people to use for the AP exam if they ask for it. I really didn't need to know what they stereotypically poop BTW.

Well, apparently, you got the show wrong, GV. It's actually Ladybug (originally Miraculous Ladybug).

You kept mentioning 'Jojo's Bizarre Adventure', I figured that's what the name of the anime was...

Now, I know that's a totally different one, though.

Re: Anime/Manga/Manhwa/Whatever

It is related though, in a weird way. Some of Jojo's pages are on permanent display in The Louvre. They even had a big old festival/exhibition dedicated to it once.

So, things from JJBA are named based on music bands or songs?

Re: Anime/Manga/Manhwa/Whatever

Most of them, yeah. There was a period where he named all stands after Tarot cards, then he ran out. So he switched to egyption gods, but got tired of them. Some he names after fashion labels. That's one of the reasons it was never officially brought over: copyright law would eviscerate it.

The Main Villains of every arc I've read:
Dio Brando (Ronnie James Dio)

Car, Wham, and ACDC (Cars, Wham!, and AC/DC)

Dio again

Yoshikage Kira, Stand Name: Killer Queen. (The Band Queen, the song Killer Queen in particular. Two of it's three abilities are named after the Queen songs Sheer Heart Attack and Another one Bites the Dust.)

Diavolo, Stand Name: King Crimson (The band King Crimson, sub ability based on their song Epitaph)

Father Enrico Pucci, (Enrico Coveri, Emilio Pucci, Italion Fashion designers) Stand Name: Whitesnake, C-Moon (Song of the same name, by the Wings), and Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin). Yes, he got three. It made sense in context.

President Funny Valentine (the song My Funny Valentine from the musical Babes in Arms) Stand Name: Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (AC/DC album)

It's one of the endearing things about the series.

Re: Anime/Manga/Manhwa/Whatever

Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap may just be one of the most overpowered Stands in the entire comic.

It's power is that it lets Valentine access parallel universes and overlay them on top of one another. If he gets injured, all he has to do is swap consciousnesses with himself from a parallel timeline where the injury never occurred. Because of the infinite worlds theory, he can do this as many times as he pleases because he's not the kind of guy who'd care about his alternate selves dying.

He can also pull himself from other timelines as backup, and each and every one of them also come equipped with Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.

He wouldn't want to meet my Writer's wrath.

I'd make a 'stand' called One More Night (like the song by Maroon 5), allowing you to travel back in time (though, you always travel to some time at night). And when you travel back to that given night, time is frozen there. That'd allow him to be killed quite easily. Presumably, his death keeps the 'him' from that reality from being summoned by other realities, right? Or, can he still summon past selves from that same reality?

(BTW: I've always found Temporal Summoning and Temporal Replication to be complicated pseudoscience to experiment with...)

Re: Anime/Manga/Manhwa/Whatever

Gentleman Vaultboy
This isn't the first time a villein has had a seemingly unbeatable power. Time powers, in particular, are the domain of Jojo's villains.

Dio's The World could stop time.

Kira's Another Ones Bites the Dust attack leapt inside of someones head, blew up anyone who asked about Kira or was told about him by that person, then locked the day into a time loop where they always exploded no matter what.

Diavolo's King Crimson could erase time. No one can quite agree on exactly how that power functions mechanically, but time is definitely lost.

Pucci final stand, Stairway to Heaven, had the ability to accelerate time. Worldwide, time itself sped up to the point where he fast forwarded to the end of the universe and the start of the next one.

I'm wondering what Araki will pull for his next big bad, because he's running out of time powers.

you know what I kind of hate about manga and anime now. The author's exaggerate the feats of their character's to the point of absurdity, without actually knowing how fast or powerful they're saying it really is.
