It is to me.....I don't accept the idea that smells can control minds.......However I do belive in being able to inhale a substance that can control minds. But its the substance, not the smell, that does that.

Smell is caused by substance though, how would you have a smell without substance unless you're using illusions on the mind i guess which could cause whole other set of abilities.

Potpourri, changes how the substance smells....it does not change the substance.

So it changes how to brain reacts to a smell by perceiving a different smell, which could in theory cause other affects to happen.

It does nothing to the brain......it simply changes the smell. I know it doesn't make sense, but when have most superpowers made any sense?

So if it doesn't change substance, or how the brain perceives the smell, how do you know the smell is changed, much less for the better.

It just does.....Let's say it creates a magical smell on the particles......Whatever...

How do you smell it if you said your brain doesn't recognize the change in smell and the substance is exactly the same.

The brain does recognise the change in smell....but the power does not change the brain in any way.

Doesn't have to change brain, would be like hypnosis. The brain reads the information from the nose that sends the information of the smell, instead of normal smell it would be the power made smell and thus would cause the brain to hypnotize itself when it reads the information of the smell.

yes, there are.....Let's just say that a magic aura surrounds the particles and when it reaches the brain it says "This is the smell you are smelling"
