"And after we get to the mother ship? We will be blown apart before we can do anything!"
I try to think of a possible way to pull it off. "The radiation from their devices is what gave us our powers right? Maybe we can concentrate the radiation and boost our powers."
Romans 8:31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. |

"Fine, if that is what we must do. I hope everyone realizes that we might not make it back. We have no other choice than to stop that ship though."
"Follow me, I already have the location of the hanger pulled up." I say as I turn to leave.

We travel through the hanger until we come upon a ship of suitable size for our party.
"Gabriel and I will fly the ship. He will decipher the controls so that I can manipulate them in Darmanite form. Wulf, Bug, and everyone else will be on the guns once I unlock the controls for you."

Gabriel and I work for at least an hour activating and granting access to all the controls of the ship while the rest of the team keeps watch for any stray Darmanites. When we are done, I stow Prime in the storage area of the ship.
"Gabriel, enter the coordinates into the ship and we should be ready to lift off."

I manipulate glass to make a highly durable and sharp armor for myself as I watch for Darmanites.

The group piloted the ship through the Darmanite assault, firing the weapons and dodging back and forth. They soon approached the Mother ship.
"We're going to make it!" Gabriel yelled in excitement. Just then, a stray shot clipped the back of the ship. The systems began to shut down. "Crap! Our support systems have been damaged, we won't be able to land, let alone get aboard their ship." Gabriel cried out before looking at the others solemnly, "This just became a suicide mission."

I start rapidly pressing buttons. Instructions translating before my eyes as the knowledge Wulf uploaded into my head makes things readable. Several button presses later and air masks pop out for all of us. I keep pressing buttons, seeking for a way to control the ship.
"Focus Gabriel!" I yell "There has to be something we can do."

I look up, realizing something.
Perhaps my power can be of yet more use. "Um...guys...what do think about me attempting an...alternate means of travel?"

My body senses the mass of Darmanite genetics as we approach the ship. I can feel the different types of life forces mixed throughout the ship. It seemed that the Darmanites had some practice in genetics, as there were variations on the ship that matched none of the aliens we had seen on Earth. My power reacts to the new genetic possibilities, causing my skin to thicken, my muscles to grow, and my mind to sharpen.
The ship's controls begin to come more easily to me as my brain develops. Eventually, I begin navigating the controls as if I had flown the ship all my life. I push the ship to its limits as the mothership increases fire towards us. I would either crash into the ship, and take both out, or jet into one of their hangers.

Meanwhile, I curiously examine the controls of the ship's transmission and reception panels.
So many buttons and levers and keys and switches. I wonder to myself how this will work. Or IF it will work. I'd seen something like this done in movies and TV before. Perhaps, in a world of aliens and superpowers, this, too, was possible. It was worth a shot. And so, I laid my hand on the transmission panel, and concentrated with all my might. And my body fell limp. By the time my conscious had gained new coherence, it was no longer connected to my physical body. Instead, it was zooming through some intricate network of electronic transmissions and other electronic data. Hidden files, supposedly deleted things, updates to programs, radio channels playing music, and more. And if my hasty calculations were right, I would soon be jutted out of some antenna on the ship as pure electronic data, to be received by a neighboring ship, where I would wreak utter havoc in enemy controls. I would jump ship to ship in this fashion, until my consciousness could no longer muster it, and then, hopefully, make for a reckless, but worthwhile action/adventure escape back to my corporeal form. If all went to plan, it sounded, all in all, like a noble cause, and certainly well worth even the risk. And now, only time would tell if I was right.

The ship streaked through the atmosphere trailing acrid smoke. Phi's guidance keeps the ship from spiraling completely out of control. The mother ship looms menacing before the ship's crew, who are taking this all very well for people who about to crash a ship into a death trap.
Gabriel preps the bomb as the ship nears the Mother ship. Finally the ship give on last shudder as it's engines die and it pummels straight into the docking bay. The crash landing ship blasts through several other darmanite ships before schreeching to halt in a twisted metal heap. (Y'all can decide who amongst you survived)

When, at last my mind had reintegrated, I found that my body had been tossed about quite carelessly in the wreckage.
It had worked. My consciousness had successfully disrupted two or three ships, which had led to some domino effect. And from what could be seen, the other ships, only small emissaries, had hovered in place, and were now retreating. They wanted no part of whatever had caused their ships to fail without even physically touching them. It was unknown if they would return, or if larger ships would come back in their place, but for now, the coast seemed clear. I could get up and see who had survived. "Hello?" I looked around, "Hello? Anybody out there?" I foraged through the wreckage, coughing out smoke from the fall my consciousness was not present to experience, and hope for the best. My eyes darted through the mess and saw Bug. I rushed over to wake him up, and my face fell. Beneath him, a pool of blood was now visible, and my eyes widened in horror. I checked his pulse frantically, and my chest began heaving, my eyes misting... He was no longer with us.

Moments later the cockpit opens. I begin crawling out, Gabriel held over my shoulder. I set him down outside the ship and collapse against he ship's frame. Blood can be seen dripping from my side.
I look around the room as I catch my breadth. Whoever had been unfortunate enough to be already in this hanger had been taken out by our sudden arrival, and it seemed that one of the ships that had been knocked around was now blocking the entrance in. "Wulf!" I wheeze out "Get out here. Something's stabbed through my side. Do some of your mind magic and at least let me pretend I'm not burning with pain, and wake Gabriel up while you're at it!"

I tore out of the ship with a couple of durable glass swords and most of my glass armor still intact. "Well, that was quite a fall wasn't it."
I look over to Shad kneeling near Bug's corpse and run over next to him. "Oh god..." |

There was only one thing that could be done. Together, Shad and Awesome pulled themselves together and pushed past the grief of their comrades' deaths. They found Gabriel's bomb where it lay in his dead arms. Together they set the bomb, armed it and activated the count down.
"10 seconds to detonation" Their last action would be to stop the Darmanite's from ever reaching earth. As the bomb counted down, the duo laid their companions out in respectable positions, then sat down next to them. They mourned their loss, but knew their deaths were not in vain. "5 seconds to detonation" They had succeeded in saving the world. "3 seconds..." "2 seconds..." "1 second...." "....." ----------------------------------------------- The explosion could be seen from earth. Millions of people looked up to the skies to see the massive ship that would have ended their lives explode into a bright star of fire and light. It's debris rained through the atmosphere, igniting and creating a beautiful display of streaking comets. In the weeks to come, the Army and EDF would eliminate any remaining Darmanites on earth and the world would begin to heal, united by the conflict they shared. All thanks to a group of brave souls who gave their lives for the greater good. THE END
