Re: The Evolutionist's Stone (RP Reboot)

Gentleman Vaultboy
Wayne watches them go, face perfectly stoic until they're out of sight. Then he lets out a deep sigh of relief. "What's with those weirdos?" He asks, before looking back on the contents of the purse had had scattered on the lid of the dumpster. He doesn't open anything, but he scans each item with transparency looking for anything. Hidden pockets, secret orders, concealed weapons.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing suspicious. He flips open the wallet again, gives it the same treatment as the purse, and finds nothing except an I.D.

"Nadia?" He says, leaning back against the wall. "You lot show up, tip me off about Gorak. That could be a fluke. But then you show up here, not a day later? But if that's the case, whats with acting like you all don't remember me? How much do you know? What are you planning?"

He scoops everything back into the purse, and throws the wallet in for good measure. Could it really just be coincidence? He checked is watch. In any case, he didn't have time to look into it now. He'd already kept the freak squad waiting long enough. Slipping the purse over his shoulder and disappearing in the same motion, he made his way back to the diner. He saw their car, still dutifully waiting, before recovering his hidden suit and changing.

Over the years he'd gotten very good at changing while being invisible. He reappeared, except for the purse, and inspected himself in the glass of the diner. Sharp. His old one was folded over the hanger in his suitbag. He'd have to find somewhere to get it cleaned. Convinced that this as the best he was going to be able to do, he made his way back around toward the car and his three patient escorts. "Sorry." He says as he approaches. "I had some trouble with a pickpocket. On to Mr. Gorak, shall we?"

He dumped the suitbag and the purse into his trunk and slipped behind the wheel, honking his horn twice as if they were the ones that had made him wait. He had a few days while he planned out exactly how he was going to kill the overlord to solve the mystery of those kids.

After their run-in with the young pickpocket, Fitz suggested that it was probably best for them to hurry up and find a hotel or motel to stay in. If for nothing else, he and the others were feeling pretty beat, from chasing the little snot. To the supers' fortune, they would have a pretty easy time of coming across such a refuge.

The streets around noon were somewhat busy, but the city's layout was nothing if not convenient. There, in the midst of the crowds of lunchtime bustle, was the diner they first saw, a gas station, a laundromat, a parking lot, a few indiscriminate businesses, the pathway to a nice quaint park, and then another lot opening out to a decent-sized four-story hotel, the Coyote's Comfort Inn.

For now, it would have to be their comfort, too; the rooms were big enough, allowing each of them tolerable places to rest. Tessa and Pierce would share one bed, Nadia claimed the other, Ivan staked out the couch, Jack would turn the two chairs inward toward one another to form a mini bed, and Fitz contented himself to sleep on the floor.

That left, now, only the matter of employment to be settled. The lot of them had been dropped off in the next state over, and with little money available beyond that which they used for the hotel and food, they would have to come across more quick.

Now was as good a time as any to make it down to Gorak's.
