So, has anyone read anything by Rick Riordan?

“She'd become a governess. It was one of the few jobs a known lady could do. And she'd taken to it well. She'd sworn that if she did indeed ever find herself dancing on rooftops with chimney sweeps she'd beat herself to death with her own umbrella.”

Nope. I DID come across this book called 'Incarceron', though. It's a steampunk little something about a living prison. I think I shall like it very much.

I've read that.

It was pretty good.

/Tangent

Anyway, Riordan wrote Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Based on Greek mythology, and he did his research.

Which is lovely, because it means I don't have to stop and think "That's not how it goes! D:" every five minutes.

Not to mention it acutally managed to make me learn something new about Aphrodite. Namely, that she is older than most of the other Olympians..

Yeah, I've been meaning to get around to reading that series. I heard it was good. My eleventh grade English teacher recommended it first.

(And I keep forgetting that the amount I study Greek mythology is not normal; I was gonna say "Say WHA?" when you said you didn't know about Aphrodite...hehehe)

Which one and what did you think?

The chapter titles are vastly amusing.

Old Ladies Knit Socks of Doom...

Or was it Death.

Guess which old ladies they are, Shadow.

No silly, the Fates.

The Graiae show up later.

They drive a taxi cab.

Which is speedy, but terrifying.

Mostly because the sister with the eye is not necessarily the one driving.

And the hero does sort of take the eye while they are driving in order to get information..

Sound familiar?

Percy = Perseus.

So...I'm not the only one to make the connection?

The naming was intentional on the part of his mother.

She wanted to name him after one of the few greek heroes that don't have stories that end in tragedy..

Though the mortal heroes of greek myth were never my strong point.

..How far are you into the Red Pyramid?

That one is based on Egyptian Mythos.

It's implied that both books series exist in the same universe.

I'm really liking The Red Pyramid....since it's a twist on Egyptian mythology.
