Prison Realms RP

Celadon's Penultimate

This post was updated on .
OOC: Welcome to the Prison Realms.

You have been banished to the most foul planes of mortal existence. They are dangerous, deadly and frightening, each in their own way. As such, they will work to either scare you back into being a productive member of society, or they will be your undoing; some have even gone demented and become some of the very horrors they once feared. And so, before we begin, here is an overview of the punishment which will serve as your sentence.

The rules of the worlds below are as follows:

Small FEW powers

No magic (AT ALL; even MAGIC ITEMS)

No clothes, to start with, other than the bare essentials (all accessories, tools, weapons, armor...GONE)

No escape (there is no magical, temporal or dimensional alteration you could perform will allow you to leave before the Elementals, the Drym or the Penultimate desire you to be allowed to leave)

No metabolic requirements (you can feel sleepy, but you have no need to sleep; you can feel hungry, but have no need to eat; you can feel thirsty, but you have no need to drink; you can feel choked by the air, but you have no need to breathe)

Okay, now it's time to actually tell you about the prison realms, set aside for only the worst criminals.

1) Delirium- The Plane of Illusion

This plane is filled with all manner of illusion, hallucination and deception; nearly every creature here is capable of shapeshifting; the skies are always a hazy blackish-bluish-purple, and the air feels empty. Your every fantasy is mixed together nicely and neatly with your every horrid, unthinkable nightmare. Nothing feels real, because nothing IS real. Everything you experience is subject to your darkest dreams, and your most wicked imaginings. The only flowers and plants you'll see are the fields of hallucinogenic poppies; one sniff of them, and you'll fall into a deep, paralyzing, nightmarish sleep. The only creatures with a definite form are the myriad of imps and boogey-monsters that stalk the darkness. These beings shape the very appearance of this dreaded world by tapping into your darkest subconscious.

2) Demens- The Plane of Madness

This plane is one step worse that Delirium. Instead of causing you to see illusions and dreams in a delirious, delusional jumble, this place is very much real, and can easily make contact with your body. However, this plane sticks strictly to your fears, and the most traumatic moments of your life. It seems as though any being here is hell-bent on driving you mad, and snapping what little of your sanity that you had left from your stay in Delirium. The skies are filled with endless moans of the mad, and screams of pure and utter terror, and the wind smells like all manner of gross uncleanliness; At first, you might fear that everything you're seeing is once again an elaborate delusion, but that assumption will be shattered the first time you nearly get struck by a lightning bolt, or find yourself falling from a mountainside cliff, or have to escape the hordes of head-hunters, boogeymen, wraiths and all manner of monsters and demons, both big and small.

3) Dis- The Plane of Torture

This plane is by far the worst of the three planes to encounter. It is filled with illusions, like Delirium, and evil creatures and chaotic environment like Demens, but here the creatures are not hell-bent on making you kooky, or making you go crazy; they want you to DIE. Any creature that catches sight of you here will chase you hatefully, and call others to do the same, and the roads are covered in rusted metal and glass. The air smells like sewage and blood, and the buildings are dilapidated and provide only temporary shelter from the constantly shifting weather (which changes about every thirty minute). In the middle of this terrible realm, there is an immense tower. On the outside, there is only one door; once you step inside, there are four. One door will let you exit back out into the chaos of Dis. But the other three are portals to three different places. One will take you back to the beginning, to Delirium. The other to Demens. However, there is a fourth, beside the other two and the one that lets your return to the outside; that fourth door will lead you to the next world.

4) Vas Erebus- The Plane of Emptiness

This plane is the fourth and final installment of Celadon's darkest realms. It is entirely empty, except the cold of the winds, and the scent of grave dirt. This plane is not one of torture or attacking monsters, or wearying delusions. It is the plane of utter loneliness and near-silence. No buildings, no trees, no mountains and most definitely no creatures. The inhabitants of this plane cannot even see, hear, feel or otherwise interact with ONE ANOTHER. What's worse, this realm expands endlessly, so that being lost truly has no meaning there. There is no true left or right, and among the only sounds one can ever encounter hear is the howling of the winds, the tortured whispers of one's own battered mind and the taunting jeers of the deepest corners of solitude. The voice is utterly stricken away in this place.

____________________________________________________________________________________
You begin in the land of Delirium, the plane of Illusion.

The sky looks like a normal night, with the exception of no stars and no moon. In the distance there is a frightening howl, which wakes everyone up. You all look around to discover that you are inside what looks like an abandoned prison. Each of you in separate cells. Fortunately, the bars are dilapidated, the walls are broken through, but the stairs are all still in shape. Or so it seems. You'll all have to see for yourselves. And see quickly, the howling seems to be getting closer...

Have fun!

Confusion is the first thing I experience, but it is quickly dispelled by the howling I hear. Howling means there is something nearby and I do not wish to fight until I have a grasp of my surroundings. I scan the small area that I am confined in. A prison of some sort it seems. It is a simple matter to mold my cells to allow myself to slip through the bars. Once I am out side my cell, I look around for any clues as to where I am; I find nothing and continue forward. The howling scares me and without any information on it the only logical course of action is to flee.

What is this realm and what does it hold for me?.....

I wake up in Delirium. At first I am confused but slowly I remember the guards bearing down on me and i realize that I am in the place I had just recently tried to take over.

I kick down the rusted bars and step out to scan the surroundings.

If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

I wake up, startled and hyperventilating. Last thing I remember, I was being hoisted into a dark portal by a pair or Power-Negating, Magic-Negating Ogres. Stupid ogres.

Wait! Was that a...howl? It doesn't sound like any kind of howl I've ever heard before. And it looks like it's night time. I'd better get a move on. Whatever it is sounds big.

And just where the heck am I? A prison? I kick the bars and they clank to the floor. That was easy. Time to figure out my surroundings and get out of here soon as I can.

As I run I hear others running through the prison. Are they friend or foe? I do not know and therefore should avoid them until I know for sure. The howling behind me grows louder...

Deep breaths. Remember, Deep breaths. If I didn't panic that time I almost got decapitated, I'm not panicking now. Even if I'm in a place that is rumored to be one of the most terrifying and brain murdering place in existence.

Now.. What do I have that I can use? They took almost everything. Magical item after magical item, lock picks, hammerspace bags, knives, rope... I thought as my mind reviewed the long long list.

I have.. nothing. Another wave of panic came as I heard the keening howls outside. I had to move, gather supplies, weapons..

I slipped through a gap in the open bars and moved in the shadows, unseen.

"....Darkness.....rocks.......a stone cave? Am I home...no of course not, this place smells of death, and them..."

The figure shudders and several rocks roll away from it as the room shakes slightly.

"My power....must have been take...I need to get it back.....but first I need to get out of this place." The figure stands up, it's still to dark to see anything and it raises a clawed arm. A second later the broken bars of the Jail cell blast competely out of the wall and it walks through.

To escape whatever it is that is chasing me; I hide in an unused cell. I wait patiently until I hear something walking down the hall towards me. I tense up and wait until it is just outside the cell. Then I attack, my arms become boney spikes as I jump out of my hiding spot. But there is nothing there... I was tricked...It was an illusion. For the second time in so many minutes I think "What is this place?"

A lot of clanking and shuffling is going on, and none of it is coming from me. I've resolved to keep near-silent until I discover someone, or they discover me. Making friends is the last thing I expect to do here, so now, it's time to find my way around.

My attempt to remain in silence is foiled, however, by a prison bar that's been dislodged from its frame. I land on the ground and quickly cancel out the sound so I'm not discovered.

Too late. From above, a second shrieking howl is heard. Louder, and presumably closer, than the first.

Is it a dragon? A banshee? Is it a creature that even exists on Celadon?

No time to ponder that, I realize, as I walk over to the same rusty prison bar I tripped on. Time to get a hold of as many weapons as I can. It's a large place, this building, but for some reason, not as dark as one would expect.

And then it hits me. The entire reason why I could hear the sound of that howl so crisply. I look across the railing, and notice that, what should be firm ceiling, opens out to the dark quasi-nighttime sky...

Or does it? Oh, man. This light is playing tricks. Well, whether the ceiling is open to intruders or not, I've got to hurry up. I have a strong feeling that I'm not the only one here.

Without know what horrors there are out there it is logical for me to procure another form of defense other than my superpower. In case I am unable to use my powers a secondary weapon would be beneficial. I scavenge through the nearby cells and collect pieces to build a crude short sword and a rudimentary shield.

Before I set off, I decide to gather whatever supplies i can.

In my jail cell there is nothing but a broken down bed. I decided to use its sheets to make a sack though for later.

I upgrade my worn down clothes into a newly made prison suit using my powers.

Lastly, I pick up the jail cell down and infuse it with my power, removing the rust. Then i hold it by its bars over my shoulder to use as a weapon.

I wake up looking round me. Where am I? Oh, right. The chase, and then they shut up this labyrinth while I tried to recover the specimen. So...now what? I momentarily check my Hammer space. Nothing. I must have used everything up during the chase. I look around at the debris around me and open up a portal. Bones, rocks, and even large chunks of ground are sucked up as space warps pulling everything in within a matter of seconds. Well, that should serve as ammo in case I need to fight. Now, all I need is to ind out about this place. From what I can tell at a glance this must be one layer of the prison realms, I assume from the bones that there are certainly hunters or beasts of some kind. I must find out more. I move my hand in a pulling motion around my body and envelop myself in transparent covering of a hammer space portal and move on.

I have no idea what that banging and clanging is, but it sounds like more than a simple rat. I look over the railing to the floor and see that it's two stories down. Better take my chances. If I can't find any staircase, then maybe I can use the sound of my screaming to soften my fall.

The staircase looks a bit ragged. I decide to chance it. I tap a foot on the first step. It's rickety, but should support my thin frame. I'm about down the first ten steps when--

RWAAAAAARRRRRGHHHHGHGHGHGHGGH!!!!!!

A resounding boom shakes the building. Turns out, I was right about that hole in the ceiling. A whole swarm of dark, winged things flies through, their eyes and mouths alight. What are these things?

Pyrausta. Tiny dragonflies...LITERAL dragonflies. Insect-sized dragons with bug eyes, bug antennae and dragonfly wings. Their mouths blow little embers, and they swarm like mad. Like bats from a cave, even batting them away is too hot to handle.

But, although they are incredibly dangerous (and annoying), their squeaky roars are NOT what the heck I heard from before. And then it comes again.

RWAAAAAARRRRRGHHHHGHGHGHGHGGH!!!!!!

This time I have no room for question. A superhot jet of blue flame comes pouring through the gaping hole in the ceiling, and burns the rest of the staircase in front of me. When the heat and light clears, I see a monstrous reptilian face.

Time to get out of here. FAST. That's like no dragon I've ever seen...it's scales almost blend into the night sky...

I hear the a tremendous roar in the distance. It can be only one thing...A Dragon. It sounds as if the Dragon has found prey, so there must be someone else there. I head in that direction to see if it is a situation I can take advantage of.

I wake up in a cell. I look around. There is nothing, literally. They must of heard of my powers.Well, it doesn't matter. I materialize some ammo and an Uzi, then break down the bars. I hear a roar in the distance and a flash of light. I dragon.......and *listens closely* a hoard of dragonflies. The dangerous kind. Well, this should be fun. Along with the Uzi in my right hand, I materialize a small grenade launcher and some more ammo. Time to shoot something.

I see the dragonflies pour down from the ceiling and jump inside the nearest door and end up in a hallway.

No sooner than i have taken a couple steps, the entire structure fades out like a mirage and I fall down a pit. There is a strange liquid at the bottom and a tunnel going off to the side. I decide to try and find a way back to the surface before the dragonflies decide to continue after me. Maybe I can find one of the other newly released prisoners to enlist in a group.

A second fire blast comes jetting through the ceiling down a few yards in front of me, and I stumble back. I look up only to see that the dragon is trying to break in! It digs its claws into either side of the hole, and begins to push through, each time giving a monstrous snarl as it attempts with violent effort to get to me, and whoever else inside.

The hole isn't big enough. And the hole is big enough to fit among the largest dragons I've ever seen. That can't be good.

And so, with all other options prevented, I toss myself over the banister of the stairs, and the sound of somebody falling to the ground eases my OWN fall.

WAIT a minute! Somebody falling?

"Who's there?"

Not trusting what I just heard not to be an illusion, especially since it seems to be getting darker in these tunnels, I suspiciously answer back. "Ok, Show yourself, I need to make sure you're real"

Is this guy for real? I step forward into the dim night-ish light and reveal myself.

"Well, if I'm not real, then what would it matter if I show myself?"

The dragon roars again, his snout just peeking through the hole in the ceiling.

"Look, I haven't got time for this! In case you haven't noticed, there's little mini bug-dragons after me, and I'm about to be barbecued by their very large friend if I don't get a move on!"

I take off looking for a door or some kind of exit.
