Zaya has nothing that Mina could want. She has one race, a Divine mirror, and an Avatar. Mina has 7 races, nearly 20 Artifacts and Divine Artifacts, 7 Major Goddesses, 6 heroes, an Avatar, multiple mythos and divine servitors. Mina also has no need for the effect of Zaya's mirror. Zaya's not going to win the Hearts in a game of betting poker unless she gets something else that actually has value in Mina's eyes.

They all seem kinda...  stiff.. severe.. serious..

She has two races, actually.

Fishy people and Hags.

Her Hags have caused the spread of magic across the Draemar and Dwarves. They also sell more magical trinkets and spells than anyone else currently. Not on your turf, since you'd welcome them with certain painful death, but nearly everywhere else.

But, hey, rule-wise that's worth nothing- so Mina wouldn't even care.

Well, that's how I try to portray most of them. I have a few who play poker, but those ones are all card counters, so.... Yeah, not having them play poker anytime soon.

The way I see it is that if I create something then it is mine and you will never get me to gamble it away. I might throw it away or sell it, but I won't gamble it away and that is fully within my character's personalities. For most of them anyway. And if it is really nice, like the Hearts, then those are NOT-FOR-SALE items as well as non-throw-away items. You might be able to get Mina to give Zaya a few items in exchange for others, but she'd need to get something to trade. Zaya that is.

With all due respect, only for certain aspects of their personalities. Gambling is one of the aspects, children is one, philosophy is not, fighting is not, love is not, and magic/psionics is so definitely not. I do vary several factors, but some of them I default to the same thing.

I can make people with the same kind of magic radically different.

A kind hearted person with healing magic is very different from a homicidal sadist who uses it to keep victims alive.


Though, honestly, your characters seem nearly the same to me. They differ in strength, or in ability or in type of magic.. But basic personality? That seems nearly the same.

Is this deliberate?

Some of them, specifically a large number of the one's introduced in NB have all been ones with similar personalities. I guess I need to introduce more. Though Mikoto was supposed to feel different. Does she?

She's supposed to be the type who's more comfortable around those of lower rank than those of higher rank and will never feel fully comfortable as Mina's Avatar, so I guess fidgety works.

Perhaps you should try making a character with a radically different personality than your own.

The Watchman is annoyingly good. Cheesy names aside, he seems to be very interested in making sure that bad things don't happen. A bit clever too.

The Baby Sitter is more.. Plucky. Enthusiastic.
