I did, it's a pretty good plan, but it would still stop anything from ever living there. I think slowly transforming the radiation into heat or light would work better.

I make an anti-radiation ring and to stop being the armory, I enter the radiation and  lead a party to set up a permanent settlement out there, with the same power in a more permanent object.

We could just live in a safe area though, like Antarctica, which would also be safe from most zombies. However, there are a few ways zombies could attack:
-People at the base when the pandemic hit would likely not return, then die of different causes (possibly suicide) and the zombies would kill everyone else.
-The zombies could float on the ocean towards the continent, though this is limited to the relatively recently dead.
-They could walk along the ocean floor.

Luckily, #2 and #3 would be reduced due to ocean currents and possibly some wildlife eating them.

Another safe place would be cities away from power plants; the following animals are some of those which would kill or main the dead, even if toxic:
-Dogs: They hunt in packs and go for the weak and slow -zombies are the prime targets. If the flesh is toxic (such as bacteria feeding off the viable meat) the dogs would spit it out, regurgitate it or learn to stop eating zombies. Meanwhile, they have killed a few more zombies without our intervention.
-Flies: The maggots will eat at the flesh, especially the muscle (slows them down) and fat (so they are more vulnerable to hot and cold). The flies they attract and give off (pupating maggots) will also make it easy to see where they are -follow the flies. This only requires them eating a small amount and the attraction aspect works nevertheless.
-Elephants: With no people, the power will go off, leaving the electric fences in zoos useless, leaving the elephants to wander the cities. As the elephants wander the cities, they are safe from any bite damage due to their thick hide, are big enough to accidently kill or maim a zombie and will run at high speed and kill the walking dead if panicked. Having eaten no zombie meat, the elephants are fine.

I think a sports stadium would be good too -it's a safe haven from the radiation, provided it has an enclosed roof.
